Only St. Augustine

I only want St. Augustine in my yard. I have about 75% St. Augustine now, with a mix of bermuda, bahaia and other misc. species. Any idea on the best method to squeeze the unwanted grasses out and promote only St. Augustine?

Fusilade or Sethoxidym will selectively kill the Bermuda and not the St Augustine. The St. Augie will yellow but recover. The other weed grasses you may need to swipe apply Roundup/Prosecutor on in order to control.

Be careful with the Vantage (Sethoxydim)will wipe out St. Augustine in a heartbeat if applied too strong or other conditions. It is labeled for centipede and fine fescue.

What other conditions could affect the performance? Hot dry weather?

Are there better times to do this since they may have different dormancy periods?

By other conditions, I mean drought, stress, thin, disease, fungas etc. I personally Would Not use sethoxydin ( Vantage or the one that Lesco has) on St. Augustine. I saw a client's neighbor to wipe out a big portion of healthy new St. Augustine sod after he say a Vantage Bottle that I was applying to Centipede turf. The client's neighbor was there while I was spraying the lawn and went over to the truck and saw the bottle. Vantage in the small bottles can be bought at feed and seed and hardwares in SC. Repeat,Vantage(Sethoxydim) is not labeled for St. Augustine but for Centipede and Fine Fescue. It is effective on Bahia and bermuda in Centipede. There are other things that work as well as or better than Sethoxydim, but illegal in residential lawns.
