Or...
If it ain't broke don't fix it, my 'Check engine light' has been on since the day I bought my truck.
Much like in your case I went to find out about it and I do know in my case it stands for "EGR,"
and believe you me I done been up under there and worked and worked on that crap
but for the life of me I can't seem to be able to fix it...
A stripped bolt and several busted knuckles, lots of sweat and a few choice words later it still comes on.
So the truck runs, good at that, sucks to watch that light but heck with it.

btw with my cars I think one red light on the dash board is normal,
especially that Check Engine light, I'd be more worried if it was Oil or Temp

A lot of people have had a lot of problems with the 6.0's. My dad made the mistake of buying one brand new from the factory. Dealer bought it back becaude of the lemon law. Ford needs to go back to the 7.3's. More reliable, would run forever, great power.

Rmember, there is no replacement for displacement. (cubic inches)

That was a bad year, Ford was trying to make cut backs in over head costs in 2002-2003 and they shortened wires and cut corners to save money.
Don't run dirty fuel with water, stay on top of your oil changes and filter replacements, drive it hard, but not all the time and let it warm up a bit when it gets frosty.

You need a good Ford dealer to fix a 6.0 properly. One that throws parts at the engine makes it run worse because they are not fixing the problem.

we had a 04 duramax make a funny noise so we took it to our local dealer and they said it needed a new engine a whopping 10000 bucks. so I said thats crazy we took it to a dealer in albany georgia well they rebuilt it and got gm to cover the whole thing and it was out of warranty at 115000 anyway my point is a good dealer will help you out

I had the same problem too on my '05, they replaced the EGR and it was still down low on power, then the down pipe blew out, now everything is good.

Cummins arent all they are cracked up to be either. I have a 03 Ram 3500 with the Cummins. Its going to the dealer tomorrow for new in injectors for the second time with only 52,000 miles. I consistantly get 10-12 MPG.... pulling a trailer about 70% of the time. The two reasons I bought a truck with this expensive upgraded engine were the fuel economy everyone talked about and the reliability and longevity.... im not seeing those advantages.

Thats a completely different engine from 03 to 07. The 03 has the 5.9

TandM

no the early 07's had the 5.9's which are the ones we have. I have not heard of 20's in the new 6.7's
