Once a week, every few days? The tree is 6 months old. I live in Texas, near Dallas.

Check the soil moisture with a soil probe or small trowel. It all depends on the weather: humidity, temperature, and wind in the previous days. As a general guideline I tell customers to water trees about every 3rd day. Open the faucet to 1/4 of full flow and let it soak the root ball for 15-20 minutes.

I usually flood the planting for the first 3 days, especially if its a transplant, bareroot, or BnB. After that a regular soaking is good, as long as there is adequate drainage.
