Well I'm sitting here on my @$$ today without a job, figured I'd stir the pot here a little. Good news is that things are finally picking up (it's August, but good news nonetheless) and I'll probably be back to work within a week. Dispatch sent out 15 people this last week, I'm optimistic I'll be back soon.

Just started thinking though. There are a lot of us on here who run equipment for a living, some who do it part time, etc.. Just curious who's run what. For those of you who are HEF members, there was a thread like this on there. I suppose I'll start it off.

Excavators

Loaders: Old fiat-alis

Most of my time has been on backhoes (case) and excavators (deere/hitachi, and kubota). All the other stuff are things I may have used on small jobs or just played with, no serious operation expect for the trackhoes and backhoes and a few skidsteers.

That's all I can think of for now.

Yep, PC200 is 20 tons. First two numbers is weight class in metric tons. The 600 is a beast of a machine, I really liked it even though it was a Komatsu. Thing of it is, once you get in them and run them for a little bit, they don't feel so big. They lose their appeal as huge machines after a bit and they start to feel like every other smaller excavator you've ever run. I still like my days running a 120 size hoe, ain't nothin wrong with that.

A 385 dwarfs the 600. The 600 is 25 tons smaller, an 85 ton machine is about 50% larger. 85 ton machines aren't too popular around here, however one company did bring in a PC800 on a highway overpass job. I was really surprised to see that large of a machine, typically they aren't used in these parts, 60-65 tons is usually big enough.

Man this thread is a year and a half old. I'd have lots of stuff to add to my list but I just don't feel like rattling it all off. Since then, I've run at least 2 dozen different hoes anywhere from 5 tons to 40, a little bit of time in our PC600 but not a whole lot, dozen different dozers from D3 to D9, few more loaders, driven a couple dump trucks, water trucks, Steiger tractor, blah, blah, blah. My job never gets old, I enjoy being the "floater" guy as I end up running a bunch of different iron performing very diverse tasks.

Heres what ive run, mostly in the past couple years:
Skids: NH LS190?, Cat 226B, 236B, 287B, JD 260?, scattrak something, Bobcat 773, S175, S185, S250, T190, T200, T300

Excavators: Bobcat 334, 430, JD 120C, Cat 330BL, PC400-6- hell yea

Loaders: JD 444H, Cat 980H- awesome

TLB's: NH 575, Cat 430D

Dozers: JD 450J, Cat D7E- old but she pushed well and screamed like none other

Misc: terex asphalt roller, Sky track rough terrain forklift.

Not bad for a 22yr old doing odd jobs, having a hard time getting into this industry. Love every minute of it, would like to have my own business someday.

Hehe I've run newer stuff but I was thinking I'll just list interesting crap.

SEE tractor: Its a truck with a bucket, Aux Hydraulic system for tools, and backhoe on the back. Junk

4-K Forklift: Made by a multi-national list of designers. Could go mud bogging at 40mph. Pick up 4k lbs, haul a 155mm howitzer. It didnt start or have brakes though.

Insley 1500B: Actually ran this last year for a pet project. Old screaming iron is fun for about a three days exactly.

Michigan 175b: We put 3ft snow wings on each side and snowplowed with them. Driving across town was fricking crazy when you account for how lose the center pins on them got.

Tampo Steel drum roller: Its some where between 1960 and 1965. We've had people try to burn this machine to the ground. So much iron on it all they do is rewire and put a new seat on them.

D7g: Think it was 1978 with the knucklebusters. This is by far my favorite machine and you still cant find one for cheap.

1155: I hate crawler loaders

Terex TS 14: Early 70s models. Its amazing how they hardly changed anything in 20 years. It makes you feel like your operating a junkyard instead of a scraper.

I haven't played much with the little track loaders, and don't have any respectable amount of time on any excavators. I have never gotten to run a hydro dozer either- i just pretend when pushing with a track loader.
