After six years from date of manufacture....toss it. The date is on the tire 3 or 4 digits with first 2 being week and 3rd being year 199_ or 4 digit... 3rd and 4th being 20_ _.
Have checked all my tires a while back and all are good

Better safe than sorry especially with a trailer and equipment in tow.

I found this out the hard way with a NEW trailer I had bought too! It came with "NEW" tires. They looked new, full tread and the little "tits" on them. But... In a years time they were weather checking and one went egg shaped on me one day. Replaced it and the other went bad about 3 weeks later. Found out that they were almost 10 years old! Rubber inside had dry rotted and fianlly gave out, hence the out of round condition. Tire shop showed me the date code, they didn't think anything about it until they had seen the brand and size and they knew that brand hadn't been made in a long time...

Of course once I had both tires replaced with NEW good tires the damn thing was stolen 6 months later. :angry:

When you get to looking, it makes you wonder why there are so many "new" old tires on the market. Why are there so many being made that they are getting old on the shelf?

My trailer tires are stamped (4807) I got the trailer in (1808) according to their code definition. :) Something like 3 months old when I bought it. :D I'm afraid to check the tires on my stock wheels. ....bites tongue....
