I have a lawn that is currently full of weeds and small trees. It slopes down away from the house and is very uneven. Often when mowing the tires on the mower will fall into low spots and will cut bald patches onto the lawn.

I would like to level and reseed the lawn.

What is the best procedure for redoing a lawn like this?

How deep should I till?

After tilling what would be best to use to get rid of all the low spots, and have a perfectly smooth level lawn?

Looking at different harrows and landscape rakes for after tilling. There are disc type, chain type and tine all which can be dragged behind a tractor. What works the best for producing a level surface after tilling and breaking down the tilled soil even further?

Thanks
Anton

Just my opinion...If it is totally weeds, I'd do a non-selective herbicide on it, wait the specified time, then work on leveling. I would get some quality soil & work in ammendments. Go over it with a tiller and a harley rake. Looks like you are going to continuously fight weed seeds from the vegetation in the distance, though.
