I have decided to look for a '99-'03 7.3L Powerstroke. I know everyone will say don't go diesel it costs more than gas now and isnt worth it. I am aware of the fact that they are more expensive to own, and will have no problem $ wise being able to fill it up when it needs it, and even to cover any major repairs without draining my bank account . Not to mention I will use it for many other things besides landscaping. So as of right now I am definatley ready to take a trip down diesel alley in the next couple of weeks .

Here is my #1 prospect as of right now:
1999 Ford Super Duty F-350 SRW XLT

Price: 10250
Mileage: 110588
Stock No: C80257
Vin: 1FTSX31F1XEC80257
Engine: 7.3L (444) DI V8 TURBO-DIESEL ENGINE
Transmission: Automatic

Now here is lovely truck # 2!!!

Disadvantages here are obvious. More miles on a younger truck. Its a cc lb so plowing will be difficult at best. However it is a lariat so there is a + on the comfort factor. also is priced a little bit higher.

Specs
Price: $11,500
Year: 2000
Model: F350
Mileage:146,388
Color: white
Enging: 7.3 diesel

Crew cab long bed lariat. remote start, heavy duty service suspension (whatever that means).

the prices have been low on trucks since no one wants to buy them so its the best time if you got money ready .

they both look like great deals. i like the 1st one better, but i HATE four door trucks. just me, they are better for a crew and working, but i dont like the looks.

both are 1 owner trucks. im thinking the ext. cab vs. the cc just because i dont want to go out plowing for the first time with a cc lb. plus with a 16' trailer its gonna be pretty hard to manuvre

I love CC LB's. So of course my choice would be the second one. But for you, the first one is so clean! That is a deal right there. If i were you id get it.

Only thing about the first one is I had my dealer do an auto check (same as carfax) and it has moved from NY to PA to here since it was bought. That could just be that the guy moved around, or he brought it here to dump it. but besides that everything came up clean, no accidents or anthing like that. My dealer also told me that an oasis report only works if you run it at the dealer it was serviced at and he wouldnt be able to get ahold of one. So if anyone thinks he's wrong can get one for me i would be eternally greatful!

yeh thats wrong, any Ford dealer can pull an oasis report. It just costs the dealer to do it. Theyre just being cheap. If you go to www.ford-trucks.com or www.superdutydiesel.com and give one of the mods the vin they can pull an oasis report for ya. or a "service history" thing.

I really like the first one. I just bought a truck just like it. Mine is an 02 F-350, gas, and I got it for $9800. So, I'd say go for that one. It will be a more plow friendly truck. But if you have bigger lots, then I guess it's a horse a piece.

08-13-2008, 12:34 PM
but 30,000 more miles. Now i now a 7.3 will run 300,000 miles. who knows. I still have to take a look at both so its still up in the air. Might be going down to check out the first one tomorrow. we shall see.

heres an update for ya'. I want a longbed. lol. Did some major hedge trimming today and used my friend's f150 reg cab 8' bed and we barely fit everything in it. I thought about it and i dont want to be hauling a trailer to every job such as this one where theres no way we would fill the trailer but would fit it perfectly in the truck. I'm still going to look at the one in decatur, but will only persue the truck if EVERYTHING checks out alright.

the first truck gets my vote. plowing with a crew cab is a nightmare

plus it's been sitting on thier lot since winter so I'm betting they can move on the price a little, even though it's good where it is!

Give me a long bed any day. And an Ext cab over the standard or crew cab.

In crowded parking lots, I'm glad I have a short bed, but when I'm working, I sometimes wish I had a long bed. That first truck looked really good. This third truck looks really good too. I had a teacher in high school who had a truck just like that but crew cab. Every Friday, a group of guys would go have a tailgate party on the truck during lunch. That teacher was a really cool teacher. He'd roll all the windows down and crank up some music while we ate and played football.

im thinking the black ext cab is the one. we shall see what the mechanic says next week.

Sold! but only if they come down to 14-15k... You could buy that truck for that price two years ago...

oakwdman
08-15-2008, 06:05 PM
I am hoping for $15k right now. It has a dent on the passenger side of the bed, is going to need new tires and the back bumper is bent up and in a little bit...... these aren't a big deal to me but can be good leverage on the price. Plus they have had it since winter so they want it gone...

newlooklandscp
08-15-2008, 06:23 PM
for a cheaper price you can buy my dump. lol.

oakwdman
08-15-2008, 06:30 PM
lol, I'm imagining the looks i'd get in the school parking lot! lol. everyone would be getting out of my way.... i would get out in record time!!! Too bad this isnt next yr. Ken (it's ken right?) because I would gladly take that dump off of your hands... best of luck selling it!

newlooklandscp
08-15-2008, 06:43 PM
the looks would be great. you would get all the ladies lol.

08-15-2008, 07:03 PM
lol. i dont see why i wouldnt! How many u think i could fit in the dump body???
something tells me a dump bed isnt the most romantic place in the world lol. but atleast with some really high sides we would get some privacy lol!
Have u had a chance to get those pics of the new truck / ur 350?

put a pond liner in there and fill it with hot water. sexy lol. posting them now.

08-17-2008, 05:47 PM
Ah yes, I remember seeing something on TV about the whole truck bed hot tub thing and they said to put a hose in your exhaust and route it to a plastic lined bed to provide heat and bubbles. Haven't done it yet, but it's certainly something I'm dumb enough to try

TXNSLighting
08-18-2008, 11:42 PM
so...did you go get the black one?

oakwdman
08-18-2008, 11:44 PM
taking it to the mechanic either tomorrow or wednesday. Quick ?.... wHat would you guys pay for her?

TXNSLighting
08-18-2008, 11:46 PM
seriously i wouldnt give more than 13,900... or just tell em 14,500 out the door incl ttl.

oakwdman
08-19-2008, 01:06 AM
I was thinking of offering $14000 - $14500 ttl with a new set of tires. If they don't go for that I have my eye on an '06 F250 gasser (5.4), 4?,000miles leather, all white (white grill/bumpers / mirrors).

TXNSLighting
08-19-2008, 11:16 AM
i doubt they wouldnt take that.. theyre stupid if they dont.

update on the black one, I found out the farmer that had it before traded it because it was burning oil. Met him purely by coincidence and thats what he said.
