I own 3 painted dixie choppers and every year at the begining of the season I paint them because of gas spills on the fenders. My thoughts for this season is to Rino Line them. Using the same kind of stuff used in pickup truck beds. It come in many colors including gray. Do you think this will work or not.
I also think this would be one area the Dixie Chopper could improve.:blob2:

They did improve it by making the mowers with stainless steel fenders. Gas doesn't seem to have an affect on them.

You can paint again and then wax. A high quality wax will not have a problem with gas spills. If you're lazy, repaint with a good epoxy. I prefer the wax solution.

rhino lining is really good stuff. i used this same material when i worked in a composite shop. it looks great and it tuff. they can put it on almost anything. i would go this route.

You could also just replace the fenders with stainless fenders. They're around $250 each.

NOT

The Rhino Liner sounds like a good idea.

I believe I'd shy away from the Rhino lining if I were you. First, it's not a cheap option, and second how would you affix a decal to a Rhino lined surface. It would really affect the value of a machine to compromise it's original surface in my opinion(although I don't know how much value a painted DC has anyway), Not trying to be smart, but this is a homeowner machine not a commercial unit. If you're committed to doing this I think I would go with the new stainless fenders which in my opinion would add somewhat to these units valuel. My $.02 worth..........Lynn

Are you sure the painted DC's are home owner machines? Cause no where does it ever specify that the painted DC's are home owner machines. The diff. between the SS and painted is you get less coolers, and air filtration.

From the little 36"/42" combo to the 72" diesel they are all commercial.

do you spill gas on your car or truck??

It's abused, who's fault is that??

Spend the x-tra $$ and go Stainless.....

I'd get some rubber undercoating in a spray can and see if that helps~NaTe

why don't you try POR-15 paint. it's chemical resistant and Extremely durable.they make it in different colors (engine paints) or they have their standard black, silver, and clear.this stuff is great.i just got finished fixing a pin hole and will be painting the inside of my PARTS CLEANING TANK with this paint.do a search for it on the web and request a catalog.if you can't find it i can get you the # of the distributor i use.

Do ya think that is wise!!!!!!!!!

$250 each huumm X6 = $1,500

Rhino liner; $80 for a can that will do all the gray painter parts on the DC's.

These are not vehicals, they have a very limited group of used buyers, and do not hold much of a resale value in the first place.
Just take a look at the "ONES FOR SALE USED" , I mean still for sale used.

I'm not trying to sound rude but just think a little of what you both are saying.

$80 vrs. $1500

Wise would be $80 or a better, more durable paint, and yes it will still stain, because the fuel that is spilled or runs out the gas cap while mowing will dry fast in the sun, and leave the staining miniral behind.

hey greenstar, ever hear of BALZONA MOLECULAR? this has to be the best epoxy ever made.you can put anything back together with this stuff. when it's dry you can machine it.they have a pic in their catalog of guys fixing a ships propeller (BIG prop) with it instead of welding it.stuff has a price tag to boot.

there is you a cheap solution ,and it's tough to ,cost about five bucks a can spray it on ,go to your local v-twin motorcycle shop ,they can order it for you , or harley shop if you want to pay extra .it looks better than Rhino liner , it's what I use to paint my harley cylinders with and it holds up good !

Hey thanks a lot for the replys, I've been in business for 5 years and still have my first dixie chopper and it's as good as the new one. Plus we're servicing about 140 accounts per week. However i'm supprised that none of you guys have the painted units or don't have my problem. I know the 2002's will be stainless steel but don't they get crappy looking to? Anyway I took them to my local body shop an they are spraying rino liner for $200 bucks total. As for as the decal, I could care less what's on the mower as long as it performs. I put my company name over them anyway.
