I want to put a new set of wheels on my 93 chevy 1500. the stock wheels are 15x7 with a 5x5 bolt pattern and a 4.5" backspacing. The ones I found that i like are 15x7 with a 5x5 bolt pattern, but the backspacing is only 3.75". will this difference in backspacing be a problem. I want to try to stay as close to stock size as possibl, but i am having a heck of a time finding the right ones.

That is a tough area for some trucks and the backspacing is quite important. You would be going down .75" so it could be better but it could be worse. The wheels on my S10 are the same way, I had to go down from 5.5 to 4.75 and it wasnt a big deal at all and made the truck have a little better stance. I'd say search the forums on your truck because thats where you'll find someone with a similiar setup.

You should be fine. You are just moving the wheel outwards .75". It will probably even look better. Meaner. I got a very good deal on a set of late model 2500 hd rims for my 86 Chevy. The 89 Chevy rims that were on it were 3.5" backspacing, the late model rims are 5". It moved the wheels in 1.5". Everything clears but it looks funny now. Too bad cause they look pretty sweet. I will probably be taking them off though. I was wondering the stock steel wheel backspacing for those trucks though.
