The chatter sprinklers work the best and cover the most area. I've used Green Thumb brand from a hardware store. bout $7 a sprinkler. looks basicaly the same as lawnfreaks.

If you guys remember that sod installation i did recently. I setup 3 of those sprinklers to water the lawn and it was fine. the areas watered can be controlled well.

Yeah those ones are real nice Micah. I did a few other new lawns. The oscillating one worked nice on that lawn because it was long and skinny. ANother lawn I did was 2 sides of a house and they were long and skinny areas also so it worked nice. I will have to get some pics up of ther other one

Sweet. Good idea using the hitch with your ATV to pull the trailer. We do the same thing with our tractor. Much easier, moving "materials", on the lawn.

yeah it was also easier to back the trailer into the carport

Not yet, I am getting a plow for it soon though
Thats the same salt I use. That is a pretty good sized garage:)

Some of that pallet is salt and some is calcium cloride. The buckets are all salt. Yeah the garage is real nice, it also has a basement under half of the garage because it was built on top of a hill side. Too bad its not mine:cry: Someday I will have a nice and big shop...

Took my last final today, what a PITA. Waxed my truck since it was 55 degrees! And brought some more calcium since I I already used a good amount. Also Thats 500lbs :dizzy:of salt on the quad. I use calcium more so I was moving some extra salt to the basement

Deere is that rock salt? Is it safe to use on concrete drives or do use calcium chloride on concrete drives?

On the quad is rock salt, in the truck and on the garage floor is calcium cloride ice melt. Its alot better for concrete. I use that alot more. One drive I do is a real nice concrete drive, steep hill, but he just wants rock salt, I hate using it on it but I do

i just bought the same brand of ice melt. what store did you get it at?

yeah its pretty good stuff, even though its flake not pellet. seems to melt ice/snow fast. I got it at home depot for like 5.97 a bag, which isn't bad IMO. The first time I brought it I had them load it with a forklift and man they were slow, the last 2 times I went I just did it my self.

After the cleanup and some finals. I didn't do the mulch on this job, the owner wanted to do it, not the type I would have picked. The rock at the bottom of the hill was also done by the owner, not what I would have done, I wanted to build a small retaining wall, but thats what he wanted:

That is a newer indoor soccer field, we were just building a floor on that side like the other side, so it just isn't dirt/concrete. My rotator light on my pickup was pretty easy to wire since it has the plow package and had most of the wiring there. But I also got another led light that shines through the rear window that I wired in and all, keep and eye out on plowsite, because I'll be putting up pics cuz I got a new plow also

do you leave your plow controls where they are in that picture when you're plowing or do you put it on the seat next to you? I know when I plow with the neighbors truck, when he is out of town, I like it next to me on the seat, it's easier to use, instead of leaning over and pushing the buttons.

This is true. The v box will come out so i can just look out the window like on a pickup. I figure for the right price I will pick it up. If it needs work it can sit in teh barn getting fixed untill im 18 and can sign contracts. I normally don't just do pull offs. This is only the second time I ever pulled off, I do them upmy camp. We used a tow strap I had, hooked to each others hitches. Yeah just play tug a war, I pulled him 2 times a few inches. We did it on hard dirt, I really didn't want to do it on pavement.

That was 3yrds. I had to go back and get another 1. Thats the max I put in is 3 not because of weight but that thats all the room a pickup can fit. Mulch don't squat the truck too bad, but topsoil does like crazy. Yeah I have AALs but I think I am going to spend the money for 2 sets of timbrens, to help out.

I just used the stihl saw to cut the pine tree and I borrowed a pole saw attachment for my split boom from someone for trimming the cherry tree. Thats actually a brown hardwood. I won't be using that this year unless someone wants it. The stuff is not died and goes grey to fast IMO. I am going to buy from a different supplier. The died mulch has like a $8 difference in price

hey just curiouse im trying to get a plow for next year and am wondering how do youi charge per hour, by the inch or what.

everything I do is per push-meaning I give them a set price and everytime I show up its that price plus salt if needed. I tell them I will be there every 2-4 or 1-3 inches. I charged by the inch on sidewalks last year and I didn't like it. The way I have been doing it so far seems to work.

Get a wright stander! Seriously you will love it. They are fast and to be honest more fun than a Z. They are built solid to, the ga. steel that they used is much thicker than my toro.

yeah it was. I have been there a few other years with my parents. I wish they had one for landscapers, but the main reason I went was because I new wright was gunna be there.

What else you got to get ready?

Well today I brought a bunch of stuff at home depot, fixed to small curbs at a place I plow(no biggy), sent out renewal letters, calling/talking to a few new people I plowed for about lawn care/giving estimates, Buying some tools, gotta build a backpack blower rack at some point, got a cleanup to do, Registered my name with a nursury I go to alot, gotta go test a wright at some point, hopefully buy a dump trailer off a guy I know and the list goes on...

yeah, its only a small 5x8 but I should be getting a pretty good deal on it as its pratically new. It will work great for hauling mulch topsoil stone. And if I find a different dump place I could haul brush with it too

There's something about having a back pack blower hanging off the side of my trailer, I wouldn't like that, that's like holding $500 out the window going down the highway.

I either wedge mine between something (which you're not suppose to do) or most of the time I lay it down in my bed which has a cover.

Ya I don't know how you guys feel comfortable with these blower racks, they do not look very secure. In my opinion every landscaper should have a cage on the front of their trailer, it is the most versatile "rack" there is. You can put blowers, trimmers, hedge clippers, shovels, etc. Just my opinion.

Ideally, yes. But in a lot of cases they add too much tounge weight to the trailer to be worth it.

I have a landscape rack in the front but it is usually full with gas cans cones, hand blower etc. I am not sure how all the ither blower racks are built but his thing holds the blower very good, I am not to worried about it. alot of guys have blower racks

The gate on this thing is awesome because its custom built to go 3 ways. I gotta clean it up paint it a little and such. I got it for 2k if I hadn't had known the guy it probably would have been 2500 I will probably have that much in when I am done though I am painting it replacing broken lights jack might buy a roll up tap etc. He never cleaned it and kept it outside so its a bit rusty. It was a pretty good deal not as good as you got your trailer for though!

Whatever Jared, I just don't understand what the difference is because with a trailer you shovel and wheelbarrow the mulch off the trailer to the site and you don't stain the concrete if you are using dyed mulch. With a dump truck you are still going to have to shovel and wheelbarrow the mulch from the pile and if you don't put down a tarp you are going to have to clean up the mess. It really just doesn't make sense to me but then again I guess according to you I'm an idiot who knows nothing....

No way will it cost 2000 to fix it up 2k is a lot for a jack some lights and paint, even if you re-painted the whole thing and went through all the hydralics it would probably only be $600.

What kinda weight can that thing hold? Looks like 5 lug 3500 axles.

No haha I paid 2k after I am done I might have about an additional $500 into it. It is rated to carry 3700 and thats including the wieght of the trailer

Most of the time it will get shoveled out of here unless I am delivering for someone or I have guys shoveling and I am going to pick up more. But the big thing is with the ramp I can roll a wheel barrow up and also this can hold more wieght than you put in a pickup when you are dealing with topsoil stone etc.

South Florida Lawns
03-16-2009, 11:00 PM
you will learn to tip it up as you go and shovel into two wheelbarrows less work than completely shoveling a flat dump. Oh and remember one yard of topsoil weighs between 2200-2400 lbs.

yeah the chain is what keeps the gate held open when dumping. the gate can only open that far because of the hinges. I could 45 the hinges and it would open a bit further but then the fender would be in the way.

if you look back a few pages there are some pics I believe. The front ones lifted it up some, but the back dont touch until a load is put on them(they are made to do this).
