9,900 miles

looks a clean as can be never plowed. wants 15k

i need a 1 ton dump to haul 3 yards of mulch locally at a time. I have been having a hard time finding a dump at this price that hasn't been beat on

thoughts about year, motor, power, and mpg is greatly appreciated

Perfect. The truck itself is great cond. and the engine will suck some fuel but oh well. Trucks are meant to work not for fuel mileage. My 00 Dodge is a 5.9 and it gets a little tired when I really load down the dump trailer with rock, dirt, etc. but it will pull it, just not with ease. Your looking at around 10 mpg.

what about the price 15k seems really steep? when you say the trucks bogs down. is that with more than 2 yards of material.

I will haul mostly mulch

That's a great looking truck, except for the V8 badge on the door. I'd a lot rather have a Cummins, but a 360 V8 is pretty stout. The school maintenance department has a truck just like that but white and probably well over 100,000 miles. They routinely pull a big over-axle equipment trailer with a Hustler and JD Z-Trak on it. I think it's probably a manual transmission.

The only hesitation I would have to buying that truck (other than $15,000 being kind of high--my grandfather saw a Duramax dump truck for sale with low miles for that) is the low miles. I know, that sounds crazy. What has the truck been doing to only put 1,000 miles a year on it? Has it been sitting for several years? Has it been maintained well? Over time, some things are going to give out, not because of mileage, but age. Rubber components don't last forever. On the other hand, my 99 Dodge with 108k miles is in pretty good mechanical shape, so a truck with 10k should be in really great shape.

I just looked around on www.truckpaper.com at 1 ton dumps and that actually isn't that bad after all. You could probably get him down a little bit since it is almost 10 years old and a gas. My 2500 was about $12k when I bought it last year, so I guess a 1 ton with no miles and a dump bed would be worth $3k more, even though it is a gas.

I think it is also worth 13.5 or so. I love that it hasn't been plowed with and am okay with having to change rubber grommets etc... The truck I am told was on a navy base

I would go for it... it would be an awesome truck if it was cummins but like tomber lawns said the 360 is very strong... your gas mileage will be down the drain but other than the only worry you might have on this truck depending on when it was built in 1999 is the tranny... because if it was a late 1999 tranny there is a chance the tranny might go out at 100,000 miles which is common on 2000 to 2001 dodge 3500

Run like h*ll that truck is a P/U truck with the box removed its not even a cab and chassis or it looks like its not.

Keep looking and find a heavier truck. If it was diesel power ya it might be a truck to look at but its a 360 pig put a good load on it and she will be sucking back the fuel.

That is a factory cab and chassis truck. The C&Cs sat a lot higher than 2wd dually pickups, like this truck does. This truck is not 4x4, but sits as high as one. Another thing is that the truck has "west coast" mirrors. The dually pickups had regular Ram mirrors, not the big chrome ones.

Nice Dodge, I have owned both 5.9L V8 Magnum gasoline, and 5.9L Cummins diesel. Both are great engines, I had zero problems with the V8 magnum, just does not have the horsepower or torque of the diesel, also the V8 magnum is a gas guzzler. I surely would never purchase a gasoline work or dump truck regardless of the deal.

they arent terrible there is just a chance the tranny might go out... i dont know why but 99-01 are prone to transmission failure it might not go out but it could...

I had a look at the ebay link and yes the truck is a cab and chassis model it has the mono beam front axle.

A truck that year with that low of miles has sat alot. A truck that sits rots away. You start using it everyday you will start getting problems with the brakes, transmission and engine seals.

You may have to spend lots of money to repair lot rot damage.
