Soil analysis just returned!

Just got my soil analysis back. This was done on a site of about 3 acres and we took 5 seperate samples throughout the site. I will be talking with the ag fertilizer company next week regarding their recommendations for amending this turf. I would like to know what my organic options would be.

I do plan on starting a plan of topdressing with compost this fall. Just bought a Earth and Turf topdresser. I hope this will be the best solution. But are there other organic things I could do?

The pH ranges from 7.2 to 7.9 so it is an alkaline soil. Magnesium levels are high, from 1592 to 1972 ppm. Percent of organic matter is 1.5 to 1.9. K is 118 to 154 ppm. Mg is 340 to 521, Ca is 1592 to 1972 ppm. The CEC is 12.7 to 13.1.

Thanks! actually its not the Mg that's is high, its the Ca that is LOW. add some bone char.............how is the sulfur in the soil?? maybe time to add??

You posted two different numbers for Mg, one of which matches the posted Ca numbers. Which is it?

There were five distinct samples tested. I just gave the ranges for all five. The one that has a Mg of 340 has Ca of 1972 and pH of 7.6. Another has Mg of 521 with Ca of 1592 and pH of 7.2.

push the Ca and the K, the Mg rates will fall at the same time you add Ca then you need to add some K and sulfur to get the Ph down and add some exchange back to the soil.
