Can anyone recommend a tried and tested field guide for identifying weeds, insects, plants with good pictures and information? Even a text book or similar is fine, I dont have to carry it in my pocket. I'm in North Carolina, and dont mind spending money on a good resouce I can keep in my truck.

Thanks

I would reccommend finding a college that has a turf or a landscape program and checking out their website. Many times these schools will have extension services where you can find all kinds of information and manuals that can usually be printed right off the computer. Aslo if you have one of these schools close, go in and ask about it or email them.

Tons of information you can print out and put in a notebook to take with you.

Main Site:

Scroll down to the bottom under "Guides" and there is "Turfgrass Pest Management Manual: A Guide to Major Turfgrass Pests and Turfgrasses". I use it as a good resource. There are other docs out there as well.
