How much is by how hard YOU are willing to work. Plain and simple!!!

There are so many veriables, that numbers won't make a bit of differance.

If you want answers now, search for "Solo Income"

Might be a few pages back, and if I'm not mistaking you started it.

EG: If you grossed $60 solo you had better of netted $35k.

That will take some work to do, and if you work harder and a lot more it can be more.

Damn skippy smart ass, since you are MR. Perfect on the spelling, I guess you can do your own searching for the answers.

I guess there is no need for my help.

I know the answers are in the arcives!!!!

Your numbers and many other's numbers are not going to be the same.

Even the ball park numbers aren't going to be close.

I think the question has been answered at least 2 times in this thread already.

Location also has a big role in income. For example, my actual mowing season is less than up north and down farther south. So, if its grass cutting only, my #'s would be different. In florida your prices are usually lower than mine though.

As a solo, after you get established your expenses yearly will be small. Every year your profit will rise. LGF is right. It really depends on how hard you work. Not just in the manual labor sense. Work hard at conserving cash and expenses. You could make 20k in revenue or 100k in revenue. Kinda depends on you. I know a lot more people that work "harder" than me. Meaning more hours, but I'm much more profitable. As a solo, it really is up to you and your business choices.

Nelson,Don't get up-set ,these guys are right...nets will be all-over the place.....If a man wants to grow his business (like me) he will likely be adding new equipment each year for the first 5 years or so....many other things will also come into play as stated above. All of this will change the nets in your poll.

Thats pretty good. 20% operating cost. My Social security for myself is 15.3%. Thats not even taking into account for state, federal taxes. Then you take off insurance. How do you do it?

He probably shows a loss and pay no taxes. Maybe even gets a refund! That is how my first year went. ;)
The thing about working hard is your definition of it. I work hard. Very hard to maintain a tight ship and schedule. But, I will quit at 3:00 if I am on my schedule. Life is more important to me than money. Yeah, I could make a lot more if I worked like some guys in this town. They are out 'til dark 7 days a week!

If you are not a corporation, Social security is not an "expense". Most people, when defining net, look at the bottom line on the financial statement. If you are a proprietorship or partnership, social security or self employment tax is not an expense.

There are so many ways of looking at net income that it is tough to compare apples and apples.

It might have been better to take a poll on the gross income of a solo operator. Everyone is going to handle their affairs differently and the bottom line won't really give you a good picture.

The question was how much can you net after everthing was deducted. When I figure the net for me, I dedut all expenses including all applicabe taxes and insurance cost as this is truly the amount that is yours to do with as pleased. If you do a job for $500.00 and have $100.00 in material you did not net $400.00 in my opinion. You probally neted close to $290.00 depending on tax rate and insurance cost. At least thats the way I look at it.
