today a mowing customer calls me p.o.ed that his lawn is completly browned out. i go over and look and find out that TGCL had come out and aerated it last week. ground is hard as concreate plugs are only about 1/4-1/2 inch and now the lawn is compleatly dried out and looks terrible. oh and it was between 85-90 thursday-sunday with all sun. when i told him that is why it looks so bad he told me that they are a big company that have been around for a long time so they must know what they are doing and they told him it was our fault this lawn has not been cut in three weeks and last time it was cut at 4".

Anyone who aerates in a dry summer environment is a money grabbing idiot. That is a terrible ripoff and to top it off they went and shifted the blame of roasting the lawn on to you.
My response would be immediate. If nothing else ask the homeowner to call the local county extention agent and inquire as to if it is a good time to aerate. If the agent can come out to the house and look at the lawn then that is a great bonus. The agent is a nonbiased educated 3rd party and I can guarantee that you will be happy with the opinion.
Then you should be able to eliminate this idiot from the property. If you are in the business of apps then you have a new customer otherwise find a local guy that you trust to do apps and have the guy contact the homeowner.
Multimillion dollar marketing has brainwashed millions of Americans. Its about QUANTITY and not Quality. Do your research and clear your name with your customer. This kind of thing really grinds me.

last night into this morning was our only measurable rain in about a month. this guy thinks that TGCL is always right no matter what beacause they are big and been around for a long time. i do both neightbors lawns also and i fert them and they are still green they got rid of TGCL 2 years ago and last year the lawns looked stressed but this year they look alot better than they have in years. like you said MOW ED is all about quantitiy no QUALITY and then when they mess up a lawn they blame it on the mowing service.

Ask to see the TG invoice. I'll bet it says to water. Pull a soil sample with a probe. Show them how dry the lawn is. Thats your fault?
