Maybe someone will respond in the homeowners forum - I got no feedback in the lawn renovation.

Here are the results of two soil tests:

Sample 1:
pH: 6.9
P: 118
K: 117
Ca: 79%
Mg%: 15%
Mn: 147
Zn: 99
Cu: 25
S: 77

Sample 2:
pH: 6.8
P: 74
K: 118
Ca: 72%
Mg%: 17%
Mn: 130
Zn: 64
Cu: 27
S: 52

Clay soil, Transition zone 7, TTTF/KBG turf, irrigation system.

Co-op recommendations were no lime and 1lb. of N/1000.

Anybody have any suggestions on fert? Getting ready to overseed in two weeks and was planning on using 18-24-12 starter fert and was going to put down gypsum to try to bust up the clay.

It would help to know what the units are, or what lab did the testing, and what type of turf we are talking about.

Based on the information provided .... no gypsum, no fertilizer, aerate and top dress with compost.

I agree.

Gypsum will lower your PH, and will only slightly loosen the clay. You need to add compost. This will provide some N, loosen the clay over time, add organic matter and beneficials to the soil, and your lawn will be very happy!

Aerate first, then seed, then 1/8"-1/2" of finish compost.

Soil isn't something you build or fix overnight, it needs to be looked after for quite sometime before it is self sufficient. Synthetic ferts, and other chemicals kill the microbes and lessen the organic matter in your soil.

What was the OM % from your test?
