The best Ontario show would likely be Landscape Ontario which will be the first week in January.
New York State does not have a lot to offer. There is the NY Landscape Assn show. I think it should be in Rochester in November. You can walk it in 20-30 minutes. It is not all that big.
There is some landscape equip at the NY Farm Show which is in late winter. If you don't mind driving a little further, Louisville is a great show and New England Grows in Feb is excellent.

You are welcome Alpha. We display at a lot of the shows so I am pretty up on what and where the shows are. I have not been to Landscape Ontario myself but it is supposed to be very large and very good. We have three shows that same week and I have usually gone to the Baltimore one but this coming year I will be going to MN.
The other option for you if you are up for a drive is going to the Louisville show. It is the largest in the country and has both indoor and outdoor sections and you can drive or operate a lot of the equipment. There is a thread on it somewhere. It will be in October.
I can understand the concern about the weather. The last time I was at New England Grows there were piles of snow as tall as I am and the Boston area can get nasty in the winter.

If you pick the times right...I found a round trip ticket from Buffalo to Louisville for under $200 on SWest.

This (http://www.nysta.org/greenshow/greenshow_dates.html) is a fairly good sized show with lots of good speakers and vendors.
