I think i will be doing Christmas trees again this year, but i was thinking, instead of going to oregon again...Does anyone know good suppliers closer to me? Im in North Texas. The popular trees to carry around here are Douglas Fir and Noble firs. Mountain Nobles have done ok to. They must have good quality number 1 and 2 trees.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I am in NC so I can't answer the question. I was wondering how hard it is to get into? My dad owns a commercial lot that is just sitting there and I have thought in the past about selling trees.

TX:

The trees are probably in Oregon for a reason... they can't grow in TX,

I would not only look into trees but firewood as well...

Douglas Firs do grow in Texas. I am actually having the same problem. I posted this last month and noone replied. This will be my first year selling trees, how much do you usually put into it. And how much should I expect to get back. I am thinking about going to a few local CT farms and seeing if they will give me a good deal for buying in bulk.

you're going to need about 8-10 grand to start. You should make about 6k.

How do you price your trees...do you just mark them up a certain percentage of what you pay or do you charge by the foot and quality?..

Well we have to get x amount for the tree including cost of tree and transportation. Then i just mark up what i feel we need to make to make it worth it. And what the competition is selling theirs for.

I have a catalog with several "real" looking trees in it. They can be ordered from Longhorn. I hear medical buildings like to have the fake ones, and i have an extra catalog if you want it.
