Anyone out there sell trees like me? Anyone interested? Lets spark a discussion.

I've never sold Christmas trees, but I have been curious about it. I don't really have a place to set up anything like that though.

I thought about delivering firewood for supplimental income in the winter. The place where I get my mulch has agreed to sell me firewood at a discount, so that I can re-sell it. I wouldn't make much on the firewood itself, but could add enough for delivery and stacking to make a decent amount.

Its pretty easy to find a lot, especially when the economy sucks and owners of empty buildings are willing to rent out the parking lot for a quick buck. Firewood is in demand, but there are lots of people selling it around me. Let me know if you find any good info though, I would be curious.

We sell them at our Garden Center, last year was like most years. Although I will say we got some really dry Cannan that weren't sell able so that hurt sales - but other than that we were right in line. Not sure what to expect this year.

Last week I meet with 2 church groups we supply trees to as well as 2 boyscout troops. I haven't got prices from anyone yet - has anyone else, if so what have you seen. Where do you think prices will be at not only for us to buy but also to sell. With things the way they are we might not order as many larger sizes and still debating cutting numbers overall. How are you going to set prices compared to years past??

Prices I have seen for wholesale are flat from last year, plus the expected increase from shipping. I expect my prices to stay flat as well unfortunately. I noticed last year people were tightening up, its only twice as bad this year :(
I am thinking along the same lines as you, not as many larger trees, not as many premiums, and not as many frazer firs unfortunatly, because I love selling those.

How do you stand your trees up? It took me a decade and a half, but I finally came up with a cool steel "X" stand that folds up for storage, and doesn't fold up in high winds if you know what I mean...

July. You could probably negotiate a good deal still if you were willing to give a 100% deposit, but thats a little nuts.
I just noticed that the mods added a Christmas tree forum- DOAH!
