All,
Quick question- I was in a hurry and grabbed 5W-20W and placed it in 17 and 25hp Kawaski's (Exmark and Lesco mowers). I meant to grab the 10-30W- Question is should I drain it back out or will this hurt them to run for 50hrs. I live in Fl so the weather isn't cold so I'm not worried about the low number but I don't know about the high one. Would you guys run with it or change it? Thanks Chuck

You should be using 30W in both.

If those mowers were mine and I lived in Pensacola I drain that oil. I don't know what brand of oil you're using but I'd get at least a gallon container of 30W because you have two mowers.

Hi,

I am a firm believer in thick oil. I am sure the recommended or lighter oil will give better performance, but I believe you will have more engine wear especially on motors with many hours.

I run 20-50.

Here is a link to a older similar post and Rob has Kawi's recommended oil chart take note of the temp range(in Florida 30w or 40w) and also the increase oil consumption when multi weight oil is used.

I appreciate all the responses. I drained it and went back to 30wt.
