Used the new Echo 251E the other day. Great trimmer for the money. It hasn't rained in 3 or more weeks and it's really dry. I held the trimmer grip with my left hand and trigger with right. I wore a face shield and blue jeans and used insect repellent on legs / ankles and arms. But my left arm and left leg are riddled by chigger bites. I had a hole in the left knee of the blue jeans and they must have poured in at that point because my knee area and calf are bit to pieces. Right leg and arm are bite free.
What do you do to prevent those bites or to stop the irritation? I've been using alcohol but even a week later I'm still itching.

first off wha does the trimmer have to do with anything? second are you sure the are not in your house i had a problem like that a few years ago and found out that i had brought home in my clothes. i had to call an exterminator to get the house treated.

Had them once and that was enough to know you never want them again.http://pediatrics.about.com/od/dermatologytopics/a/06_chiggers.htm

They were talking about those things on the Howard Stern show today. Richard Christy said they burrow into the skin and eventually die!! He said nail polish kills them. paint a little clear on the red bumps and they die

The trimmer was throwing grass/weed bits onto my legs and arms. I tried to angle it so the string threw the debris away but still there was a lot of bounce back.

I was walking through the woods(with jeans and socks/shoes on) and they went up my legs. I think i would trade that nightmare for Yellow Jacket stings. Not that they hurt when they bite. They just itch like crazy:cry: Went to the drug store and got some chigger creme that comes in a pencil like object. Looked like a hundred bites on my legs

I know it sounds strange, but GREEN speed stick. Not any other color, but green works. It works for getting rid of them and it works for prevention. If you rub it directly on the bites it will get rid of them for prevention put it around all possible entrances such as the bottom of the jeans or wholes in knees around your wrist around your neck wherever they can get into your clothes. If they are chiggers this will work!

From that medical article via the link came this:
That is why it can be a good idea to have your kids take a quick shower or bath after they have been playing outside in any type of 'wild' areas of your neighborhood.
So...
Please do tell, how 'wild' this area of yours is, come on now don't leave us hanging :p

Have 'em all over me. Somebody suggested wearing flea collars on my ankles. Too late for that.
