Picked up a free set of worn-out tires (31x15.50-15/8) and rims that fit the Bobcat 843. Just used them at a friend's place to move around a few pallets of pavers to his backyard. I was very impressed, the lawn was hardly damaged. It really made a difference going from 12 inch wide to 15 inch wide tires, that are worn practically smooth. The terrain is almost always flat here, so traction is rarely an issue. The only drawback is that those tires rob some power on the pavement but when aired up hard they don't dig in while turning. It's nice to be able to get stuff moved without having those deep ruts and piles of grass to smooth out. Oh and the ride was smoother as well.

I would have the tires recapped with a mild tread. If the casings are good and not damaged you can have a rib based tread capped on them. When the tire has worn out tread the tire isn't as strong. The tread cap on the tire adds to the strength of the tire.

One of these tread designs wouldn't tear up the grass but would give the tire the strength it needs in the tread.

It also makes a huge difference if the tire is a bias or radius ply tire.
