Hey guys, I have a problem with an older toro key-lectric, 21 w/b I think it is, I don't use it very often and got it damn near free. It runs great but the problem is that is leaves a mess after you mow, it's not even bagging, just leaving clumps all over the place. Is this a common problem with these or is there anything I could do to make it work better? Thanks in advance and awesome site by the way.

Hi, couple of quick things to check.
Is then engine running at max governed speed? up to 3600?
Is the blade nice and sharp? A dull blade can slow an engine down.
Are you cutting too close for the conditions?
And, daft as it may seem, is the blade the right way up? The 'wings' on a blade should be to the inside of the machine.
Have a quick check of these and get back.
Oh, check the oil level before you fire it up.
Good luck Phil

How high are you mowing? I assume the grass is fescue and you are mulching. If raising the deck doesn't help you might try an atomic blade to help with clippings. How does it do side discharging?
