I have never seen so many sod webworm moths since I have been in business. A few of my lawns looked like it was snowing today when I was aerating. Anyone else having issues with sod webworms this year in the Northeast?

Looks like you'll be needing a turf solution

Yes TS,
We have many Adult moths here as well. The extended warm temps have allowed a 3rd generation and popluations build to high #s when we get 3 Gen.
I have been dealng with them with Mach II in Late june @ the High grub rate (2 Lb A.I. Acre) and have had zero failures, and season long control since 2003 when I started using it.
It persists in the soil, much like merit, has LOW enviornmental impact, and will not allow the Larve to Molt into Adults.
It's the Silver Bullett for SWW here.
Using other products like Sevin/Dylox/Bifenthrin also will knock out 1 larve (timed properly) generation, but is gone (like 45 days egg to Adult) by the time another generation begins from nearby Adult flyby's dropping eggs on your lawns.
More apps would have a bigger inpact on the Enviornment, and you have to be on site OFTEN to monitor and Apply Control (s)
Hope that helps.

In the last week I've noticed that three lawns that I fertilize are full of small moths. The moths are at most 1/4" long. They almost look like a gnat, but a little bigger. When I've been aerating and spraying they are coming out of the lawn fairy heavy in areas. These lawns are in a sandy loam soil and have never looked very good. All of the lawns seem to dry out very easily. Also these lawns do not recover near as fast as other lawns from drought conditions. These lawns are located in west Central Wisconsin if it helps at all. I want these lawns to look good. Could the moths be affecting the lawn? Any help would be great.

Are you guys dealing with greens and tees or what? Sod Webworm is hardly ever/never a problem with reg lawns. Lets see your damage pictures if you are having problems - I would be curious.
