Why has my insurance doubled in three years with absolutley no claims against my account. Does any one know a affordable insurance company for Lawn Care companies? I go through Farmers Insurance and pay over a thousand dollers a year for a
$1,000,000 in coverage but this does not include my truck or trailer. And the only reason its not more is because my borthers work for me and are listed as partners. Hell I could almost buy a new weed-eater and blower every year for what I am paying in insurance.

Has anybody tried these companys advertising in the trade magazines?

I hope you get some good replies to your post.

I did have Grange, which was good, but expensive.

Westfield is what I have now, affordable, but virtually everything's excluded. Like any tree pruning, tracked vehicles, subcontractors, or any pesticides.

Safeco, and if you are under $2,000 a year for 1 mil liability that's cheap.

Mine covers all but the trucks and trailers, they are under vehical, which is Safeco also.

For liability, I use erie and pay 520 per yr for 1 million/2 million. The commercial auto insurance is what kills me, and then of course there is workmans comp. Does 5.25 per 100 in payroll seem high to y'all?

I don't know the # but here is the www.safeco.com.

Ok all you complaining, do you realize that when you add equipment to it you pay more.

I also carry 1 million liability through Westfield with an additional equipment rider. My policy runs $667 per year. About 2 years ago someone stole $2500 worth of hand held equipment while I was working in a back yard. Westfield had a check in my hand in less than a week. Before the claim I was paying about $300 per year for the same policy. I don't mind paying the increase when I know my insurance company will work quickly to settle my claims.

I have $600,000 at a cost of $622.00/yr. It is with American Mercury LLoyds. State Farm told me they did not do liab. for the lawn and landscape business. I have filed one claim in 3 years, but my rate has not increased any.:)

Check out Weisberger.com sp? (plcaa site) they gave me a pretty reasonable quote for liab as well as workman's comp. Currently I go with American Family home and business. 380.00 per year for 1,000,000 liab. 540/year for 2,000,000. (contractors package-inland marine)

$350.00 a year for a million dollar commercial liability and full coverage on my mowers. Have it with State Farm, most insurance agents don't want the hassle of selling this kind of policy, but State Farm definitely sells commercial mowing liability insurance at a very reasonable price.:D

Damn some of you guys are outragously cheap!!!!

Are you solo also, as that equipment, payroll, and all the other added variables make the cost go up.

sheppard

Yep, I'm solo. Be willing to go to 2 million if certain commercial customers asked for it.

1 mil in general liability costs about $350.00 with alfa. no complaints on that but my equip coverage (fire, theft, etc.)is $3.00 per hundred dollars (does not include vehicles). that sounds kinda high to me. premium is due the 12th of this month. i'm thinking i need to shop a little.

also, some of you that have your applicators license, what kind ($) of coverage do you carry, and what does it cost? is it seperate or included on your liability policy? i need help on this one quick!!!!

lamblawnscaping

in va general liability is ok for applicators, no special endorsement, however it won't cover pollution claims, i.e. someone being poisoned

Just a quick thought. My insurance agent just advised me that the government just allowed insurance companies across the country to raise prices across the board about 15% due to the 9-11 incident. He is going to look into this and let me know if this a definate thing.

Hey guys, why do you think I put general liability ins in as a labor expense? IT's PAYROLL RELATED! It's a percentage of payroll. It's a direct add on.

Oh, you don't have a payroll because your solo, have brother partners or whatever? I have news for you guys. Even with no payroll they use "an assumed earnings minimum" (not an official term) to rate your policy. Here in NJ I think they use about $32K. So if a solo pays $300 +/- for a mil and 2 or 3 "partners" pay a grand it all adds up. It's all about exposure to risk. The more people working in the fioeld the more risk for the insurer.

Ain't no free rides, guys.
