so, my wright sentar sport 36" kaw 17 had been acting up lately...it wouldn't start... i went out and got a new batter under the assumption that was the problem... now just today i got stranded in a client's backyard... the battery isn't charging... i'm SURE there's an alternator... can anyone help me out? i have no idea where it's located or whta it would look like

Alternator is under flywheel, regulator is on the side of the engine. Check you fuses first. If thats not it I would tend to lean toward the regulator. Alterntors dont fail very often. If you post numbers we will be able to get you voltage readings in and out of the reg.

Mine puts out 14 volts measured across the battery with engine running. We had a rope starter put on our unit and that is a nice backup.

Make sure you check your fuses first.

yeah, i am going to check my fuses real quick... but i am almost sure it's the regulator although i haven't written any numbers down yet... never quite got around to testing it yet... it's been a busy week i keep throwing the charger on my battery so i'm ready to go next morning... found a voltage regulator for it (kawasaki FH541) 35.00$ not bad huh?

After fuses check all of your wire connections , wires and harness connectors., also check the yellow wire going to the starter switch.

I have replaced very few kawasaki charging system parts...honestly I cant even think of any off hand. I know I have sold a regulator or two to customers that I dont think actually needed them but they wanted them anyway.

I would agree with others that its wiring or fuses. Turn the key on and make sure you are getting battery voltage at the regulator. You will have it at the terminal that is like 2 terminals combined into one. If you dont have full battery voltage there you have wiring, fuse or connection issue of some kind along the way.

i mowed a pretty rough brush patch on the flip side of a guard rail... i'm thinking i may have disturbed the connections or something....

BUT, there was a point in the begginnning of the season, where i was blowing a fuse.... one of the two fuses near the knee pad of a wright sentar sport.... i blew it like 3 times... i'm wondering if that was protecting something and possibly fried too many times... aside from what i'm talking about... the fuses had pretty much melted, horribly disfigured each time... either shitty fuses or you tell me?
