Has anyone else had trouble with a company out of Arizona i think their name is Arizona or American contractors supply i cant remember which one. They keep calling me trying to sell me stuff call about once a week. I hang up and they keep calling back over and over tell them i dont have time and they call back in like 30 min. I have politely ask to be removed from their call list and have been told they cannot do that and if they did there would be 30 other contractor supply companies calling me every day because they would sell my number. They call and use high pressure tactics and use profanity not directed at me but use it none the less and dirogatory terms about the female gender. In my opinion this company and its sales staff are very unprofessional. I have never bought anything from them and I dont know how they got my number. I understand its their job but please just leave me alone. I have tried to get a supervisor or someone above a sales person but we always seem to get disconnected right after i ask for that.

I've had a few companies such as the one you're describing
do this very same thing to me over the years...
Not particularly fond of the practice, the repetition makes it worse.
Kind of makes me wonder what exactly they are thinking,
because the silly tactic doesn't work, nobody wants to buy
from someone like that...
So the only thing I can figure is companies like that can not last
but so long, unfortunately they can not see this and even
more unfortunately it is a usually a matter of being more
patient than them.
The worst is when it's a big, well-known name... :p
Still, sooner or later the lack of sales in that department should
take care of the problem, only a matter of time.
Good luck.

Are they calling your house or cell? I had similar experience with call centers, sales staff call me. Sometimes you can block their number through your caller id, otherwise you might have to go through cox and have them block it if thats who your phone is through. Im not sure if they charge for that though.

You can put a cell hone number on the Federal Do Noy Call List. Problem is, if their that kind of company, they may not check it. You can turn them in, if you can get their info, but that does not do much. I turned in company that kept calling my wifes phone at all hours, and after you fill out their little form there is a blurb that says something to the affect of, the FTC does not do anything, accept provide the complaint as evidence in the event its requested by local law enforcement.

I think today was the day where cell phone numbers were released to telemarketers, but my dad said you can add your number on the national do not call list, the same way you do your home phone. I just did that today. I've gotten text messages by telemarketers

These S.O.B's threatened to come pay me a visit, after they had called me some 20 times, I got a lil upset and started to lay into this guy who says he just got outta a prison and he could be at my house with some boys of his and have a some sort of a party with me and my family. Made a couple calls to a few friends of mine the phone company, and so forth. Have not heard from these jacka$$'s for quite sometime. They actually threatened me and my family with bodily harm. Man I was upset. And the guy spouted my address off as well??
"Hey i got a quick joke for ya I know your busy, blah blah,
hey why i got u on the phone u guys need a 225 peice first aid kit? What about some tie downs, how about hard hats??

Wow man thats like exactly what he tried to sell me today first aid kit, tie downs, tarps, shovels and then he made a reference to the female gender as a type of garden tool.
YES I HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After hanging up on them several times and telling them that there stuff is CRAP, even though I have never bought from them, they stopped calling.
Same guys call me all the time. They have said they would come to Colordo and kick our a** if we didn't buy something. They have called my office staff all kinds of stuff as well. Always start the conversation like they are your best friend. I am pretty sure they are out of Arizona.

I know they are out of arizona i just cant remember their name for sure its either arizona or american contractors supply but yes they do always ask about how business is and how the weather is. I am glad to know that im not the only one they call. Yes the kicking my a** thing has come up befor too. I really dont understand what they think they accomplish and all id really like to know is how to get them to quit calling me. I have tried almost everything. I didnt answer a couple times and they just call back over and over the next day and the next day till they catch me off guard when im busy or cant look at the phone and i accidentaly answer

WOW, you guys are freaking me out!!! I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one. He has been calling me for over 10 years. It's the same guy every time, says the same things to me as I'm hearing here. "I got a great deal on a 500 pack of gungy cords" is one of his pitches. He demands a credit card #. When I refuse to give him one he starts a cussing rant. Says he's coming after my daughter and knows her name. He read me my home address and knows my wife's birthday. He always calls from an out of area phone # or its blocked. Sometimes I won't hear from him for like 6 months or a year then BAM. I've talked to the police and the phone co and they say there isn't anything they can do.

09-12-2008, 01:01 AM
Is there anyway to stop it? I mean threating families and homes seem to be taking things a little too far. Like you said its always out of area or if you dont answer for a few times it will be blocked of show up as no number

I did want to add...
My cell phone has Identi-ring.
Way I see things is anyone hiding their number most likely isn't someone I would want to speak to.
So what I did, and I forget exactly how, but I put ALL "unknown number" calls on a highly distinctive pitch (the ugliest tone I could find lol).
Now when it rings like that I know right away not to even look at the phone,
much less answer, I totally ignore it and just keep on going.
That does help, at least I think it does.

PCLawncare,
Here is what you do. It will take some time, and some effort, but it pays off. When they call, write down the name of the company, tell them to put you on their "do not call list" then keep a record of each time they call thereafter. The way the law is set up, they get fined $500-3,000 per call, depending on how big they are, and their record. When you have a good solid record like this having recorded the name of the company, sales rep, (if they will tell you) and number, (if it comes up). Go to your state's dept of consumer affairs, they will direct you in how to go about collecting.
So you need a little notebook to serve as a logbook
record
time of call
company
name
number
You don't need all the info, company and time will work the rest just helps, also note any profanity or name calling they do. All you do is remind them that you have asked to be on their do not call list.
When you do go after them, it will cost them tons of money, you will literally be able to buy a new ztr, if they are really calling as much as you say. They will also get hit with additional fines. Companies know you can do this, but they know that 99.9% are too lazy to do it.

Is this the company with the dorky fast talking guys that say "they want to talk, but then they have a real dumb joke for you"?
Runner they call all the time and they say "hey do you recognize the voice?" It gets annoying them calling all the time.
Two different companies, and I've gotten MANY calls from both as well. Actually the place in Arizona, that's always got a great deal on a dozen rakes, and "I have the list of what you bought from us last time". I havent heard from them in over a year!
And, then there's the "bad joke" guys. I got sooo pissed at these fools, they would call on a monthly basis and I would go off on them more every time. I told them over and over I'd NEVER buy anything from a telemarketer, and REMOVE ME FROM THEIR CALL LIST. Maybe they finally got the hint, haven't had a call from them since this spring!
Another annoying one is all the "health insurance" companies calling, well it's actually some schmoe telling me that "a rep. will be in your area today and tomorrow and would like to meet with you", or "can we have your permission to have a agent call you back with free information". They don't take no for an answer. I say no, tell them I have a pre-existing condition and cant change insurance co.'s and an agent still calls me. One guy knew the drill, I said I don't need or want new insurance, his responce was "go ahead and hang up on me then"
Here's ANOTHER ONE. These damn RECORDED message calls!!! They come from some BFE area code, so I know to not answer, but somehow it gets to my voicemail and leaves a message! I've resorted to simply hitting the answer button followed immediately by the end button for ANY area code I don't recognize. If it was someone I might know they will call back assuming it was just a dropped call.

I like this guy :p
I do find it strange that cursing them out doesn't work,
I can only figure somehow they get off on that...
But I found a few things they do NOT get off on:
...............
Here's a quickie solution:
1. Phone rings, you answer, yup you know it.
2. Say "hang on a second"
3. Put phone down, and forget about it.
4. Keep doing what you were doing before it rang, or go do something else.
................
Another one,
1. Same as above.
2. At some point during the conversation, vocally fake your death.
> This HAS to sound realistic.
3. Drop the phone.
4. Maintain total, complete, utter silence.
I have done both of those.
They don't call back.

Punch in the number that's calling you, you will be AMAZED at how many others have commented! I had about 5 "odd" numbers on my phone from the last week and a half, I entered each in and got a hit on every one of them.
I wish I had the numbers for the "bad joke" jerks. and the other outfit that wants to sell a truckload of rakes or tarps... Of which BOTH have been calling on a regular basis again. No point in wasting my breath on them, I just flip the phone closed and keep moving.
Really have to be careful with some of these calls. The ones that want to "verify your information" for your internet ad listing can scam you faster than you can blink. If you even mutter "yes" to anything, they have you and bill your phone somehow. I loudly have told them that "I do NOT have any internet listing, and do NOT want one". They have promptly hung up too.

I kept them on for almost a half hour like that once but they kept calling even though I told them I was on the "no call" list and it could cost you like a $1000. They said, no it's only $500 or some smart a$$ remark like that.
Couple weeks later another call. Finally I said, "Hey, you know what? I need 28 new windows in my house... good timing". Made an appt for a time when I knew there was no way anyone would be home. Got a call later asking if we got our signals crossed. I said no I hadn't..... now would you take me off the list?" Never got another call.
