I am looking for a shovel holder for my excavator. Soething that will hold a short D handled tile spade. Can't find anything that will work. Have tried greas gun holders, but the shovel handle is too small. What else works? I guess if all else fails that I can get some of the state dot workers :-)!

a small peice of steel pipe bolted or welded on

I always ram a shovel behind the boom mount or in the radiator compartments, but a mini is a machine that is tricky.

Best guess is a weld on plate with an elongated hole for the shovel end and a hook on the other end, and use a bungee cord (also with welded on eyelets) to secure it. Look at a website that specializes in outfitting equipment for forest fire work, they have all kinds of neat gizmo's.

we use the sharp shooter shovels ( narrow trench shovel). I just throw it in between the right boom cylinder and the tool box, there like a 4" gap and it fits perfect. 6 years and 5000 hours and it ain't fell out yet.

How about a pair of Quick Fist (http://www.endroad.com/catalog/item/675042/295669.htm) clamps?

We just welded to hooks on the frame of our backhoes and the shovels hung off them...not sure if that'd do on the trackhoe...

I second the DOT workers....or a couple of guys that WERE employed by my company!

cut the plastic handle off and use a piece of 2" PVC pipe bolted onto somewhere with U-bolts...or keep it in the truck
