Had to add a valve at the infamous cemetery. Cut into the 2-1/2" mainline and after hand-pumping for 15 minutes brought out the big gun:

I expect to see "Johnny Jackleg" in that hole. I seem to remember a slight speech about slip fixes, compression couplers, etc.......not worth it.......something to that effect. Not hard to find waldo in your pics. :p

For the price of a proper cable connector (about two bucks) one can avoid having a pump that screams SCRUB!!

No gas-powered pump, just this old relic that we only use to pump out a flooded hole or test a well. Been meaning to put a seal-tite end on, only remember when we pull the pump out to use it.

Both class pipe.

We did put "Johnny" in the hole - their head of maintenance had furnished the slipfix, it's still in the back of my truck. In any case the angle of the two ends were off just enough that there would have been tension on the pipe, it'd've been "Johnny'd" regardless.

I was so happy to get out of there (and so muddy) that I neglected to take 'after' pics. Good news is the following day they drove the vault truck over the existing valve (you can see the T) and busted the whole thing. Can you say "do-over"?

We sure do looks like that - it goes from sandy to loamy to clay to muck, depending on how far/close to coast we're working.

I can mail you some...
