what is the name of the black stuff you put on a tree branch after cutting it to protect it? i cant remeber for the life of me and i need some.

i was always told never to use the stuff..it prevents the tree from healing.

its called Tree- Kote or tree salve but do not use it cut the tree at the branch collar and allow it heal naturally. the tree kote acts as a foregin substance and the tree has to work to hard to compartamentalize it and heal. its a NO NO!!!!

Also called pruning sealer. And yes,...the above is true. It's not what it is cracked up to be.

Go to the auto parts store and buy spray under coating and use it.

LOL...Do NOT use undercoating! This can be volatile to an open wound in a tree. That would be like exposing it to kerosene or paint thinner.
