N. Cali-Bluish-gray thatchy grass

Hello...first post. I live in Humboldt Co, I own a successful business going on 4 years now. Some of my customers have this bluish-gray, crappy grass that tends to get heavy amounts of thatch. I've asked around, but no one seems to know what it is. I'll post pics later.

Any Ideas?
