English Ivy

Doesn't the sound of the word "IVY" just make you cringe.....
however there are some people who want it. I personally HATE it.

To the point. I have 150 feet wide, 6 feet high, Trellis type of fencing. The property owner would like English Ivy installed to climb the fence as a barrier. Also It is in FULL SUN. Previous lawn care companies have tried and failed. Is there something or anything that can be done other then resorting to the fake ivy?

English Ivy will not do well in full sun, especially full winter sun. It prefers some efternoon shade. Some stands can be found in bright sun, but usually after they have been established. There are quite a few other vines, some evergreen that will thrive in full sun conditions, depending on your zone and soil type.

If he really wants the Ivy look, how about Boston Ivy. It is not evergreen, but it is the ivy of "Ivy League". You can check with Classic Groundcovers Inc to see what they recommend and buy in quantity at great prices. http://www.classic-groundcovers.com/
