Just looking to network with some other people in the state. Figure you never know when you might need some added help with a question or a possible sub-contractor for some work.

Cumberland has been pretty busy lately. We have gotten a lot of moisture up, so I have been mowing accounts alot more lately. Now about a month ago was a little different. At least it wasn't as bad as last year. It was more like a dust bowl then.

Just wanted to let everyone know in the greater DC area I have some equip for sale:

1993 F700 flatbed w/ 5000LB crane (mechanically perfect & doesn't look too bad either); 460 w/ 9 speed (extra PTO avail); Winch on front. Runs excellent. Asking $6200 OBO (crane is probably worth $6000 by itself).

2004 Hudson 6-ton trailer 20ft with dove tail/ramps; tandem axle; excellent trailer, never any problems. Asking $3200 OBO.

2005 Daewoo 450+ Skid steer; 65HP; 1950LBs (but really doesn't tip until 2450); Cummins diesel; 600+ hrs; Has 4 full size tires (but have original smaller tires & rubber tracks -> one wheel needs repair to put tracks back on); Comes w/ forks, dirt bucket (rock bucket avail separately). Very torqy & quiet compared to Bobcat. Asking $17,000 OBO.

** Will sell Skid Steer / trailer together for $19,000.

hi everyone, just started my landscaping business. Business is 3 months old, My experience is 4 years. I was doing lawncare for a company on the side. My main job was in IT got laid off for the second time couple months ago. Got sick and tired of it. Now trying to get my feet wet in the landscaping business. My number one pet peeve right now. People trying to get everything for free. Ugh irritating. Advice is much appreciated, any sub work needs to be done. I'll gladly do it :o) i'll try and give advice as much as i can on here. Hope to make great friendships around here.

Hi,

I'm new to the area, I just moved up here from the South for the wife's job. I had a successful, fully legitimate LCO down there (100+ customers) and sold it when I moved. I enjoy the business and would like to get back in this spring. I'm living in AA county, specifically Pasadena. I was just wondering what the market is like here. Is it dominated by larger companies? Is there a niche for single Owner-Operated companies? Is there a large amount of illegal or otherwise unlicensed competition driving down prices? It may be a shot in the dark asking for information about a specific area, but I am trying to do my due diligence before plunging in. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

BTW, if anyone is trying to sell some productive accounts I may be interested and can pay cash.

Yes to all the above.
there are large companies, like Brickman and TrueGreen doing alot of HOA and government projects. There are also a ton of smaller companies, and then again, way too many nonlicensed, non insured part timers driving down prices.
You are in a very good location. Alot of industrial, alot of residential.
Anything near Annapolis would be high end residential.
I am about 1.5 hrs south of you, but know your area a little.

Good luck.
