ok im having trouble with my 94 chevy 2500. put it in drive(its auto) and it will move but wont shift, anyone know what this could be? someone told me to check the fuses im thinking about buying a used tranny but if i dont need to that would be better. anything i should check before i buy a used one?

Is the 94 an electric shift (700R4) of a TH350/400

If it is a 700R4, it may be a solenoid in the tranny, if you open it to fix that, you might consider a rebuild depending on the mileage.

The older trannys may have any number of problems preventing shifting, but those are usually near the end of its life.

had the same problem with mine several times it was 93 it was a pressure regulator problem

how hard is it to rebuild it has around 160,000 miles also to check that syliniod do i have to drop the tranny?

what did you do to correct the pressure regulater?

all together the tranny was dropped but only to figure out what the problem was. put a presssure gauge on it and see what ur readings are. i dug my receipt out of my file it cost me around 375. more of a pain then anything:hammerhead:

THe price difference between a used, and a new tranny in my 98 was only a few hundred dollars. I went with the new because you don't know how the guy before you drove it.
