Has anyone ever removed the fan from the housing on a Billy Goat vacuum? It looks like it should come off just like every mower blade I have ever seen. There is a bolt going up through the middle, but the bolt is out, and the fan will not come off. I suppose it could be rusted onto the shaft, but it seems like there must be something I am missing. Is there maybe a set screw? I even tried using a gear puller, but it started to bend the fan.
Any ideas or help would be great.

heat could be your friend on this one. they are usually a pain to get off, but no set screws usually. i would soak it with pb blaster or a good penetrant and then heat with a torch around the crank area then try to pull with the gear puller. also hit the puller, sometimes the shock helps free the impeller.
if its still does not budge, then I ask why are we pulling the fan. if its for a new motor, cut the crank just above the fan, then press the old piece of crank out of the fan to reuse the fan.
good luck. removing impellers on vacs and blowers can be a real pain

Look inside the hole that the fan retaining bolt goes through, Most have threads inside this hole to screw the next sized bolt into thus using it as a jack bolt to remove the fan.
