Everyone had been telling me for some time now to buy a commercial mower. I was planning on buying a Quick 36 over the winter. But one of my dads friends had a 36" Gravely Pro 1336 for sale. With 145Hrs., bagger, sulky, muclh kit, and extra blades for 1,000. It has a 13hp Kawisaki engine, it runs great and cut great. Just picked it up tonight and already mowed for three hours with it. I love it! What do you guys think?

Yeah I love the way this thing turns. Its almost like a zero turn rider IMO. It can cut through alot of grass at full speed at it'll still look good.

aw man....should have waited and got the quick.

belt drives WARE you out fast, and when that happens production and quality goes down. I guarantee the quick would have been more productive with the single or dual hydros they make. plus that lack of hp will bite you down the road.

We have one and 13 hp is plenty for this machine if your cutting every 7-10 day accounts i would have like to seen a 15 hp at least but oh well we picked one up for 1200 with 56 hrs ,couldnt pass it up. These cut grass great and disperse the clippings great. You got a great machine there.

But when the hydros go out they are expensive to replace, and 13hp is plenty for this machine. I was cutting through grass probably 7" tall yesterday and not a single problem

Is that a KAW FH381? My "new to me" Gravely 1334 has the same engine. I agree, 13HP should be plenty for a 36"

The previous owner didn't have the engine manual and I can't find one online. Have you found an engine manual anywhere?

Way to go. I looked at those last spring, very well made for an entry level mid-size WB. With that sulky, you should be able to really get some work done.

Not sure on the exact model of the engine but it has plenty of power for my needs. I haven't even tried to look for the manual on it lol. I prolly should do that.

B Erler, any chance you've found a manual for the 13HP KAW? The only thing I've been able to find is this two page info sheet.

http://www3.kawpowr.com/enginesecure/ServiceManuals/FH381V.pdf

My Gravely is due for an oil change and I'd sure like to read a manual first. How many qts? SAE10W30, I assume.

I've searched for a manual for it but haven't found anything. I think I may call Gravely and see about getting one sent to me.

what are you kidding me? a manual for changing the oil? Just drain it look to see how much is in the pan and then go from there. thats what the dipstick is for. My guess is about 3/4 of a quart. It ain't rocket science.

B Erler
02-11-2009, 10:32 PM
hahaha no i put 2 quarts in it. the manual isnt just for how much oil you put in it.

Good deal ... however, I personally would have gone with a dual hydro machine !!
