Sounds like you still got some crap in the carb, did you thoroughly clean the main jet? Could be fuel supply to carb. Can you post model # and type. These will be on the engine
atb Phil
The model# is 195432 ,the type is 1134q1 and the code is 9406291B
thank you john.

My 10hp Intek Briggs that used to be on my billygoat
had a problem with dirt in the bowl that would get in the
way of the float and made it stick.
And dirt or not, just it sitting with the fuel going stale,
even if you drained it more than likely a tiny bit remained in the bowl,
and stale fuel has an effect on rubber gaskets and things...
So...
That would be the direction I would look into, is the float.
If it's stuck in the closed position it won't let any fuel through,
no matter how clean the jets are.

Just looked this parts list on B & S site. Got to say I think this is one of the worst carbs they produced. Prone to flooding and being a pain in the butt.
That aside you gotta get it sorted.
If you're comfortable with the idea dismantle the carb and give it a thorough clean. The bowl will only come off after the main jet has been removed. Take a few pics on your phone camera to help reassemble.
Hopefully this link should take you to B & S site for you to download the parts list.

The main jet is adjustable, when you've cleaned and reassembled start the engine with the main jet adjuster 2 turns out from closed. Get the engine warm and with full throttle slowly turn the adjuster in or out till you get a smooth running egine.
Good luck (you're gonna need it)Philhttp://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g144/PhilGz/SmilieUKFlag.gif

Just been thinking. As I recall these had a metal tank that was prone to collecting rust and gathering at the fuel shut off valve. Pull the fuel pipe from the tank and check the fuel flow. Might just be that causing the problem.
Good luck Phil

Hey Phil,
I looked this engine up on my Dealer's site (non IPL/PDF) and see this has a fuel pump that could also be a problem.....
Good Luck

D'oh, , you're right on that one. We just don't see that many of these engines over here. :usflag:

Thanks for the info Phil,I will take a shot at it again this weekend, and will let you know how I make out.I will also look for the fuel pump if it has one?like Restrorob said. Thanks John

Fire,
I've had very good luck with Berrymans B-12 Chemtool. Available at Walmart. It is added to gas tank.
Father had a 12.5 hp Kaw motor on his Jacobsen walkbehind. He was using starting fluid(ether) to start his mower everytime. I added chemtool to his tank and ran the mower for 30 minutes. The next time he started it it took two pulls.
Grandfather had a mower that hadn't ran if two years..it would only run on full choke...added it and after three backfires took choke off and it ran great.
I had a leaf vac that I would spend 15 minutes messing with choke to get it to run...starts on first pull now with a single choke adjustment.
Let us know how it turns out. Fresh gas may help.

well I took tke carb apart again and cleaned it up,removed jet, float cleaned bowl etc.I checked to make sure there was fuel getting to the carb and there is,It has a plastic fuel tank?I also looked at the diagram at the briggs link and see a fuel pump listed in the parts breakdown but I don't see it on the engine?where would they put it?When I reinstalled the carb and tried starting, after about 4 to 5 pulls it floods and gas starts coming out of the bottom of carb.I did not get a chance to get to wal-mart and buy that fuel additive yet.Not sue what to do next?

Drop the additive, I believe it would be a waste since you have already stripped and cleaned the carb....
Sounds like you get to take the carb apart again, This time shake the float in your hand and see if you feel any fuel inside. If you don't replace the float needle valve.
With the new float needle valve and float installed in the top half of the carb flip it float side up and make sure it is sitting level with the gasket surface, If not bend the small tag on the float where the needle valve contacts until it does sit level.
Then re-install the carb and see if the flooding is gone.
Well I ordered a complete rebuild kit for the carb from Tulsa engine warehouse, and a new float. It should arrive any day now,is there anything I should know when I install the kit and float? Thanks John

Just don't rush the job, as Restrorob said, make sure the float is level, this is most important.
As I seem to recall these engines were prone to flooding on start up. Once the fuel tap has been turned on wait a minuet for the carb bowl to fill and crank the engine once on full choke and 1/2 + throttle opening. Disengage the choke and start the engine. When you've finished with the machine always turn the fuel tap off.
Good luck on your rebuild.
Phil
