Buying a Business. Help please!!

So I have worked for the "big dog" in town and quit because he had some punks working for him. Well now I have a chance to buy a smaller business due to a buddy moving away. Here are the details....

Grasshopper 220 model, 52 inch cut, gas motor with 740 hours, bought in in 2001.
Weedeater, blower, gas cans included
John deere pull behind mower trailor
15-17 yards depending if I want to take a couple of "bad" clients
Yards vary in price from 30-50 (2 at 30 2 at 50 most of rest at 35)
Price 6,000

Mower is in very good condition he takes care of his stuff like nobody ive seen before. I am looking to have a business that will allow me to stay in college full time with out haveing to work a full time job. So please let me know what you established guys think. Thank You

Sounds okay to me. Do you have a truck and trailer? Do what ya got to do to get/stay legit with some liability insurance, licenses, etc.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I would look into buying a smaller machine as you get going to cover the tighter areas of some yards as 52" can be big in some spots...but for right now, I'd say go for it!

It sounds like a fair deal to me. 740 hours on a seven year old mower does not seem like a lot of work. Did he recently get 15 yards, or did he have another mower he was working with. I would question that, but everything else looks ok to me.

Check the history of the accounts to assess if the accounts are paid in a timely manner and the age of the accounts.
