is it just me or has LS seemed a lot slower as far as loading pages lately? 1/3 of the pages i try to view are unavailable and require me to reload the page. i think this is a great site, but if the problem continues i wont keep visiting. i dont have the time to reload page after page...can we get any help? is it just me? i have high speed internet and i can load other pages just fine, its jurt the LS pages that are slow it seems.

Haven't experienced any of that lately. I'll keep an eye out, though.

charles, i had read that thread previously and it didnt answer my question. that particular thread speaks more of features that arent functioning correctly, not how slow the site has been.

It has slowed down a bit for me also. I'm not getting any errors or anything but just takes longer for each page to load especially when posting a reply. Great site guys, keep it up.

No prob here. Streams in fine. Also -- the more categories the better. I like the tree forum too , and I'd also like to see a forum that compares ride-on sprayer/spreaders.

My 2 cents worth

It's never told me its full or busy but It wouldn't even load up the hompage earlier. Said there was a database error

It does seem a little slow to me also. I guess that the more we all like this site the more we come on here. sounds like a good problem to have, but i m sure that the guys and gilrs working on this site will have it corrected soon.

thank you, i love the sight and understand that there will be issues. my goal in this thread was to see if it was just me/my connection or the site itself. i was confident that if it was the site then the proper people would respond and take care of it. thus the thread, see if more were experiencing the same issues.

thank yall!

I'm on Road Runner. Posting hangs up, and loading pages is slow sometimes. I guess their servers are overloaded during peak times. I like this place. It would have to get worse before i gave it up.

Booted me off in the middle of writing a message. Said it was a "database error" when I tried to log on again.

maybe someone should set up a poll and see if it is certain regions that experience the problem ergo i saw a lot of kansas having problems .

Yep...I spoke too soon. I have been getting a bunch of database error pages for the last couple of days. Not good.

It is frustrating to me that I have a mid-level high speed cable modem, and the animated ad's seem to eat the bandwith. It should not take forever to load this website.

I have a place in Maine and a place in Mass, both have 6Meg internet access. Lately I have been having issues with pages loading slowly, or not at all, in both places. Have also gotten numerous database error messages. I do think the site is getting too popular/too big for the present server bandwidth. Maybe some database clean up would help... but I suspect we are in need of more server power.

I made some changes to the way searches are handled tonight. The new system, which is what we had been using for about a year before the forum software upgrade, should handle searches more efficiently. As such, it should put less strain on the server, and greatly reduce the number of database errors and moments when the site takes a long time to load.

I'll keep an eye on the site to see how it goes, but I'm confident that it will help quite a bit.

how did it happen? is it from people joining the site and people signing on?

What do you mean by that?

Basically, several months ago (I thought it was a year, but it's more like 6 months), I switched the search engine on our site from the default that comes with the vBulletin software to a third-party engine, Sphinx, which is better optimized and therefore better for large boards like LawnSite.

When I upgraded the vBulletin software a bit over a week ago, we went back to the default search engine. This caused server load problems and database issues.

I installed Sphinx again, and searches will be performed like they had been done for the past few months from now on. They should therefore be faster and put less stress on the server, resulting in less Server too busy or database errors.

Hope this is clearer now.
