doing the 100 unit blow out, shared main..40 zones...50 gpm zones..2 inch pvc main...Put in a long time ago by a hack..Notice the 220 wires for the 4 horse sub pump... This place is an abortion....but a great service account.. This def got me nerved..The ball valve is rusted off, and when I was shutting it off the thoughts of 220 going through my body was unfavorable...Thankfully I shut the pumpstart breaker off..but still...i was very careful

My partner is a wicked old school irrigator.. And I'm kind of a lets see what we can do irrigator...

So he let me try a additional hook up with the compressor to the other well feed.

Blew out the second half in record time..I did keep an eye on the water temp, which kept around 180....Have you used those before Mike?

We own a 125, have rented the diesel 180; that's a damn good idea with the
double hoses.

It worked out great...Cause we only had a 1/2 hose feed to the well...And it was taking forever to charge the second half of the job cause of all that main was empty. When we discharged this main in particular i was able to get 3 zones to fire with all the pressure..It was insane...those compressors are def big dogs.

I love thinking beyond the average box when it comes to my job....

Its fun to try new things....

Looks like a plumber did it; not too bad.

PVB is still not above highest heads in front lawn.

Manifold has the old green Lawn Genie/Richdel HR(?) series

This one is a new one we winterized for a client that has 7 rentals. I need to inform her of this crap, and it needs to be taken care of before we work on it again. PVC inside the home. and then the outside manifold/valves. ugly.

I always have copper inside to the MV outside. Then to a PVC manifold and then to poly. Never see PVC anywhere on residential just outside on commercial.

Not that I would do it, but why is PVC inside a bad thing?

Well, it was against codes when I got my cross connection license. and I'm not fond of glue joints inside the home, especially done by a hack homeowner.

Better than a threaded PVC connection, though.

Just for conversation, what about threaded PVC joints? Whats the plastic pipe used in some homes.... CPVC? Sumthin like that.

I've been thinking that using 1" PEX for the irrigation tap would make doing the tap go faster. Then transition with a copper stub out the wall to outside.

CPVC usually used on hot water side (here, anyway).

Why transition? Don't fully understand everyone's copper obsession. It corrodes, can be difficult to repair once wet, and requires extra tools. What does copper offer that SCH. 40 (or 80) PVC can't/doesn't?

Maybe tradition? Customers expect something solid like copper? It does withstand repeated hits from weedwackers/mowers better than PEX and especially cold PVC. Gues it could be sleeved with larger PVC.
