For 1 inch in depth..

900 sq. ft. divided by 27 multiplied by .1 equals 3.3 yards

Is that right? .1?

Are you guys just squaring off round and kidney shaped beds in the mulch calc?

Thanks in advance.

C'mon guys, we've been thru this before math 101!!
27 cubic feet in a yard.
So to calculate sq ft Formula is as follows:

27cuft/yd*(12"/desired depth in inches)=sqft covered/yard
eg: 6" depth 27*(12/2) or 27*2=54 sqft
4" depth 27*(12/4) or 27*3=81 ""

Calculating area
rectangles (and yes squares are rectangles) length*width
triangles 1/2 * base * height
Circles pi * radius*radius

Irregular shapes require advanced geometry, trigonometry and/or calculus and I don't think 1/2 of you guys have made it past algebra ... yet alone 3rd grade.

Sorry, but if I've offended anyone on this, its probably because:
A. They haven't used the search feature or
2. They don't know how to interpret a formula from a book

Wasn't there a Mulch Calculator web site?

I was it on here a while back.

Figure this one out then................if it took 7 yards of mulch to cover an area last year how many bales of pine straw would it take to cover it this year?

I don't think that ones in a book.
