I started cutting with my dad at age 13...he started with a 81 Ford-150 (leaking oil at every stop light), montgomery ward residential tractor, weed-eater brand trimmer, blower and hedge trimmer and no trailer. All he did was ride, and I did everything else. When I got to the point to where I was waiting on him in the truck by the time he was through riding...I knew I was ready.
About 3 years ago, he had a stroke...and from then on I retired him. I could no longer stand him to be out there. So I stepped-up to the plate and took over completely, working for free until he was healthy. It was after that, he told me that when I finished college that the business would become mine. May 2007, I graduated and started my journey...since then I've doubled the residential customers and got my first commercial contract :cool2:
Dad is still involved, but only to sharpen the blades and do minor repairs. I give him 20% of the gross income just because...well he groomed me, gives great advice and most of all for being... a FATHER. There are many father/son stories (and trust me, I'm leaving a lot out), but I know for a fact that our story is among the best....Thanks again DAD!
