What does everyone do with their old oil? I know it is good for burning brush piles but Im talking about something good for the enviroment. Are there places that will take it at no charge?

Check with your local chain auto parts stores, Advance is one.

If you get a 50 gallon barrel you can get a local recycling company to pump it out for free.
I know some people that use it for bar oil or mix oil, of course I dont recommend this.

I recycle some of it myself, mix it 50/50 with wd-40 (which I buy by the gallon).
Reduces the cost of these lubricants and works great, also I use it straight to
put a light coat of oil on all sharp blades to prevent rust.
The rest goes to the Auto parts store.

Enter your zip code and it should give you the nearby locations that take used engine oil. Same for a host of other things such as paint, car batteries, tires, antifreeze, etc.

Cool, thanks guys. I used the website and found an Autozone and Wal-Mart in my area which take it. I guess I need to put in something other than a gallon milk jug though:) I will start saving old oil quarts.

I have always taken my used oil, in a five gallon container, to which ever independent mechanic I use for car and tuck repair. They use it to heat the shop in winter. They just empty my container into their storage tank and I'm off. They appreciate it and use it.
