no straw matting. fert and seed then the hay then wet it down it holds the hay down nice

Will ya leave that hay there or will ya rake it off @ some point of time?

mrsops do you mean straw? and it will eventually rot away and when there is grass there and they cut it the mower will suck up the straw and cut it in to fine pieces, so eventually it will just go away.

Leave it there, it makes good cover for the new grass and it will mulch up after the first mowing.

I usually don't use anything straw if we can't use matting because of the introduction of all the weed seeds, seed it and roll it works good. of course I prefer to hydroseed when possible but if budget an issue we do it that way.

fine it just looked liked you had been over it a few times ,didn't see a rake anywhere, long term that thin soil will be a problem.i said nice grading job.
