I think you'll get around $4,500, its the SENTAR guys not a regular ole stander. I dont no when you baught it but what hurts is that probably atleast 6-7 months of the warranty time is gone maybe for the new owner Daniel. Is it the sentar sport ? with seat ?

Danielslawnservice
10-07-2008, 08:08 PM
yes it's a sentar sport... with the seat.... and only 2-3 months of the warranty is gone

If you dont mind me asking why do you need something bigger, what size are most of your property's ? The 36 sentar will goe thru almost all gated back yards a 48 ZTR or WB wont. The sentar sport is a great machine. You are not gonna shave of any time with a 48 inch cut WB Mower the sentar is faster and more productive even thou its only a 36.

well i only have 1 yard that has a gate... and i don't like the fact that the 36" doesn't have enough overlap thats why i want a step up... 48".... i will also be getting a couple 1/2acre to 2.5 acre lots next year...

I understand having second thoughts and know that a big trim edge helps save trimming time. But you'll likely take a $1500 hit on this machine and its accessories and like you say it's brand new. Past a point people are just going to want a new mower rather than buy a used machine that costs nearly as much, just from a risk perspective. So if they buy used, they want a serious discount from new.

You've used up 20 hours, or about $83 worth of its useful life. (assumes 1200 hours and $2000 residual value)

So making the change so soon and taking the steep deprecition hit costs you $1417 vs the real use you got out of it. Going to a 48" wb or ztr with more trim edge might save you 5 min per small/med residential lawn. How many yards do you have to mow to save an average of 5 min on to make up for that?

At $1/min $1417/5 = 283 lawns before you break even. But that assumes your new mower is faster by 5 min on every lawn. But sometimes a smaller mower, especially a quick turning wright, is faster. So it could be double that number. About half a season.

The thing is, half a season later this mower will still be worth almost as much as it is now, with about 175 hours on it. Maybe a few hundred less.

So I'd suggest using it a season and then selling it. Meanwhile you might find you pick up a few more gated props.

Then again, if you don't like it, sell it. But I agree with others that a quick turning and versatile 36" is equal to a 48" wb and on small props even a 48" ztr. Those slow turns cut into productivity with a bulky rider.

If the problem truely is just trim edge and productivity on larger lots, I'd keep it a year and make a change later.

It is built better than the phazer but the phazer will out cut the sentar and is more comfortable to ride.

I know for a fact that the phazer out cuts the 15/32 stander! and it comfortable to ride instead of standing.:nono:

I own a 36" stander and would never buy a sit down machine as my restricted access mower. Sitting is nice, but you are not on these machines long in rtestricted areas. IMO you waste more time /energy getting on and off. Different story for large areas..
Bigger the better..
Our 36 Stander tows 36" dump carts with mulch and otther materials, tow aerator and we can use a backpack blower
to clean up while riding.

Stick to your guns Daniel. All the blather about what cuts better and what rides better is just that, Blather. Most people who preach of a sit down ztr have never felt the pains of riding a real rough field on something like a scag turf tiger with your butt digging deep into the seat all day and your back hurting like you been whipped at the end of the day.

Anyhow, just my personal preference. Stand the hell up. plenty time to sit down and count your dough at the end of the day. You have the next mower I am going to buy Daniel but I am going to get the 48 from the get go.

Just my opinion, Keep your mower at least long enough to justify the difference in cost.

Well duh it's common sense. Also you can raise the deck with your foot on the fly when hitting a scalp area or curbs.

Scot the Phaser might be more comfortable ,but the stander will out-perform the Phaser.:hammerhead: If i lived close by i'd show You. Its OK to be wrong Scot, and just because you sold yours cause you could'nt ride it thats OK too.:blob2:

Okay man. To me the phazer is an awsome unit. I run it hard and it cuts and runs great. I recently attacked a yard that was a foot and a half tall. I ran it over a few times and got it down to 3.5" and the cut looked great. Should have gotten some before and after pics.

You have got to be kidding me, A phazer with a 19 hp engine and trivantage exmark deck will out cut the 15/32 stander believe me I have owned both. Also you can change your deck quick. The stander is heavier and the fixed deck has to be ramped up on a trailer to adjust. Now I would go for a rh 36 with a 19 hp.
