Here it is! I finally got a truck of my own and will allow me to get a lot more work. It has the big 5.7l and the tss package. Also it has the real towing package. Enjoy!

KCfireman, they dont make the 1500hd's anymore. But to each is own. I love this site but this is the only beef I have with the site people bash on what the next man has, but if this guy would ask anyone of us what should he look for in a truck everyone would give his or her opinion. Well in my opinion Chevy na na naaa in my option ford, and ect. Did any of your LCO say this is what you should look for in a truck and for reasons A, B & C???? no I know this because I've asked and the only reasonable answer I got was look to see what the scapers around you are using witch is fine because sometimes it not a bad idea to let someone else be the genie pig understand? But I will say thank you to the people who have been helpful in feeding me knowledge on trailers.

I do agree on the bed length thought 8' is a MINIMUM length for anyone in our line of work. I have a Stihl HT101 that takes up the entire bed on a diagonal. I had it in my cousin's short bed F-150 and the machine hung a good 2' to 3' out of the bed.

Landscaping calls for transporting heavy materials sometimes. Plus it is less work for a 3/4 ton to pull a trailer loaded with equipment than it is a 1/2 ton. I personally don't like seeing LCO's where when they're pulling the trailer the back bumper of their truck is about 5 inches off the ground. When I get a 3/4 ton it will have Airbags and probably Timbrens. Hoping to upgrade to about a 14 or 16 foot trailer in the next couple of years as well. My Gravely has really put my trailer organization to hell. I need to take some time to workout a new setup on the trailer so I can get more than one mower on easily. Hope this answered your question

wow I go to college for a few hours and all hell breaks loose. This is MY truck not my dad's. I bought a shorter bed because I am using it for work and for personal use. It has the sport package with the 20" rims which are much nicer than the 18". It drives sooo nice and I can't wait to start pulling with it. And if anyone remembers my old picture thread there are pictures of the trailer. I'm going to put some racks on it soon and a too box. And then squeeze my lazer z phazer and 21" on it.

Nice truck. Definitely use the bed as little as possible (or not at all) when you're mowing. Tossing blowers or trimmers in the back is a great way to put the first scratch or ding in it.

Bed length is important to some but, depending on your setup, can be a non-issue. We use the pickup beds for very little and I've made the decision to start phasing them out over the next few years anyway. I bought a brand new truck for the mowing crew this spring and it had scratches and a dingmark after only a few weeks from loading a backpack blower in the bed instead of in the trailer.

Use what you need for your company. That tundra is a classy truck---congratulations.

Ill just jump in here on the whole bed length thing. What the heck can a SRW 350 hold in the bed? Pretty much nothing. Thats why I bought a dump trailer. Oddly I could put just much in my 6' bed as I can in my 8' bed in my 350. So to those saying a 6' bed truck cant work just need to realize that 2' isn't going to make or break someone. Chill out be happy for the kid he is proud of his truck and go be proud of something you have, common post it up let us have into it. And do we care who paid for it? Agreed. We have a large dump trailer, a large mason dump, and a 1 ton flatbed/stake dump that can take a beating and are easy to repaint. We also have 3 longbed pickups and 1 shortbed---they are used for towing or hauling tools. The longbeds will eventually be replaced with steel flatbeds or work bodies. (except for mine).

Exactly what he said if you are only oing strictly mowing and pulling around a small trailer with small mowers it will work. But you never know what you will be hauling, I could have used a 3/4 ton man of times. They got bigger brakes, bigger/heavy duty rear ends, everything about them is more heavy duty

I am going to jump in here to on the length of your truck bed thing

two foot of bed can make alot of difference, but it all depends on what your doing.. Like for me my bed is packed! I barely have room to put a weedeater in it with out poking a hole in my cover because all my electrical stuff, wire and all the other little crap that takes up alot of room that has to do with electrical, for wiring pools, Most guys wouldnt have as much as me but buying contractors packages of fittings and stuff cuts out on my profit on one job but it will also add to my profit on the next three because I dont have to go buy one of this or two of that, and doing it that way takes up alot of space! When I have to get something out of the front corner of the bed I have no place to step to grab it, and I am sure if I had an 8ft bed I wouldnt have that problem.. or maybe I could get a little better organized with my stuff..

Oh, yeah btw that is a nice truck for a toyota, not my favorite but its a truck.

Becuase A Dodge Cummins could pull your house and garage with that toyota sitting inside of it no problem compared to the toyota that couldnt pull that much. Nice Truck!

I don't think that is a 4x4 is it? I have that size bed also and the deepness makes up for the length. It's still pretty big. I can fit two yards of mulch with room to spare.

FYI, You'll notice more power around 8,000 miles. Be sure when you want to really haul ass to turn off the traction nanny. You have to hold the traction button for a couple of seconds until the red "Auto LSD" goes away and it says "VSC OFF." Too much fun lol.:cool2:

Ha, only someone who drives a foreign hunkajunk would say that. Grab a chain and come hook up to my Cummins, I'll even leave it in 2 wheel drive. Heck I bet that yota couldn't even move it if I had the brakes on using no throttle.

Don't get me wrong, that yota is a nice looking truck, and very functional for a city boy. I.E. an accountant, or office manager that thinks he needs a truck, but does not need it for work.

This truck is powerful enough for pulling landscape materials. There were a bunch of guys from texas who run a salvage and metal hauling rig, and they have a tundra with the 5.7l and it pulls over 20,000 pounds!!! Crazy huh?

you're dang right its crazy. actually i would prefer stronger terms such as: moronic, foolish, stupid, idiotic, and some other words that might get me kicked off this site. the power to pull 20k lbs on a trailer could be put into and accord, but that accord sure aint going to stop it.:hammerhead::hammerhead::hammerhead::confused::confused::confused::dizzy::dizzy::dizzy:

heck, i would be hesitant about putting 20k lbs behind my 1 ton...

I managed to haul close to 9,000 pounds with my Ford the other day. In Fords we don't have no fancy VSC or whatever you called it. I've got a button on the end of my gearshift that says O/D Off. Basically all it does is gives you more torque and higher RPMs

we're talking ability to stop here, not the ability to tow a ton of weight.

now that we are on that subject though, it isnt fuel efficient to haul that much weight with a half ton truck, and hauling that much weight regularly will normally result in premature failure of the truck.

that guy towing 20,000 lbs with the toyota has to void the warrnety...actually s man you might want to see if there is a weight limit on how much you can tow with the warrenty....this may not even be relevant but I just thought of it so im throwing it out there

SO, I'd say insurance is gonna run you $100-250 and I really have no idea bc my insurance has always been rediculously low. And then truck payment has to be $400+. And how many yards did you say you were cutting again?

I don't know if I'm going to sell it, It's a metro 21". I don't use it a lot but might need it next year. Check with me next year.

I'm doing 45 regular maintenence lawns but just picked up eight from chiefs lawn care on here, and I'll be into landscaping and other stuff next year. How much should I be making a week? I figure if I did ten a day at 35-40 for five days I'm making around $1750 a week. That's not too bad.

You're right, I'm just weiry of dodge. I would rather have a ford f250 disel. Then again I really don't need a 3/4 ton right now.

The o/d stands for overdrive. All it does it turn that highest gear off cause it was not made for towing/hauling.

Oh and by the way, I have a tandem axle trailer with brakes on each axle, and my 1/2 ton has a tough time stopping it!...

I have very quickly grown out of this truck, and any other 1/2 ton at that.
