This more of a "before and during" than a "before and after", but I thought I would post some pics of one of my current jobs. There are 26 of these hollies that I trim every fall. It usually takes me about 30-45 minutes for each. I trim with my Stihl KM-110 and 130* hedge trimmer attachment. That's an 8 ft ladder in the second pic to give you an idea of the size of them. Sorry for the poor quality, these were taken with my cell phone and it was kind of dark and foggy this morning. The holly on the left really doesn't lean to the back, its just the camera.

Nice work, those are some monster shrubs. . .
There's an old man in my neighborhood who has one of those - he gets up on a ladder and trims it with pruning shears :hammerhead:
I offered to trim it for him, but "no, I like the exercise". lol

Thanks. He gets his exercise for sure trimming with pruning shears. I did 4 of these today before it started raining and I will probably do the rest tomorrow and Saturday. It's definitely an upper body workout.

When you're up the ladder with the hedgetrimmer, do you have it with the harness round your neck or just as it is? Can you give me any tips on working (safely!) up a ladder?

If you mean the harness that comes with the trimmer, I don't use it because it gets in my way. I don't really know of any tips except don't go too high on the ladder and make sure the ladder is on level ground.

I do have an extension for my KM and I did use it some today. It gets heavy after a while though and I still have to get on the ladder to reach the tops. And yes it is a nice paying job. I also am going to aerate and trim the shrubs around the house as well :clapping:

I know what you're talking about!! I have this one big hedge that I trim about once a month and I did use the extension on it for a while but it would KILL my arms and shoulders...I just started using the ladder.. the guy does not want it to grow any higher than the red on the bell post.
