The one time I didnt wear my glass while edging with a string trimmer and I get a rock rite into the eye. When I say rite into the eye, I watched it come flying into my eye.

I wear my saftey glasses when mowing and blowing too. Not to steal the post, but I see homeowners mowing in flip flops all the time town here. I can't belive that. Hope the eye feels better.

Ouch! Only takes one accident and you'll never forget to wear them again. Glad you're feeling better and there wasn't any serious damage.

I've gotten crap in my eyes with glasses on, let alone with out. I saw one of my p/t guys a few weeks ago string trimming w/o glasses on and crap flying everywhere. I yelled at him to put them on and gave him a look like what are you thinking. It just takes a split second to change your life.

Glad your eye is ok! I got stung by a bee or wasp about a month ago right above my left eye. I'm not allergic to bees but I had a reaction and my eye lid swelled up. A few IV's at the ER and I was good to go.

I had one of those accidents eariler this year, just like you said I say it fly right at me, my eye hurt for a week. Now I am religious about wearing my saftey glasses. I cant believe the amount of crap that bounces off them. The other thing I see alot of is guys that dont wear saftey glasses while using a grinder, I wear saftey glasses while I grind and under my welding helmet. Hope your eye gets better.

I had the same thing happen to me about three weeks ago...same eye... I wear darm tinted safety glasses when I mow and it was getting dark. I only had a few more minutes of trimming along a sidewalk. I flipped the dark glasses up so I could see and WHAM..rock right in the eye! Well worst part was I had to take my contact out and I didn't have anymore...called to get some more and my prescription had run out..had to go to the eye doctor to get re examined and get chewed out for not wearing safety glasses.

I got a steel splinter in my eye once doing exhaust work on the wife's ride, having them grind it out of my eyeball with a tiny little Dremel type tool at the e-room cured me of not wearing safety glasses.

I mow my own property in flip flops all the time. Never seen a blade come through the top of the deck. I even weedwack with them at home. I can run a string trimmer good enough not to clip my feet. I don't wear them when I mow someone else's lawn because that just wouldn't be professional. However,
I do wear safety glasses or sunglasses all the time though.
Glad nothing more serious happened to your eyeball.

Glad to see you didn't lose an eye! I started wearing them last season, I got fed up with getting hit w/ crap in the eye. Now I kick myself anyday that i forget them at the house.

I had the exact same thing happen a few years back definetly not a good time. As for safety glasses I always wear them running a string trimmer never outside of that however, one thing I need to get better about is using hearing protection I always forget.

speaking of eyes, try a holly bush to the eye with glasses on. Didn't even really feel like more than a touch, but my dominant eye was blurred. this was sat afternoon Started feeling like scratch late sat and into sunday. Went to the eye doc monday, and tonight finally getting unblured enough to not annoy the total crap out of me.. So watch your eyes, cause you could be sunk with out both, i couldn't do hardly anything till yesterday and it was today till i could do a little more.. Could barely mow my own yard tuesday, and a little easier today when i mowed another, but still not really comfortable with mowing yet, and even my driving was affected by this, so be careful guys!!

Later!! chris

It's not just eyes that need protecting. See an old post entitled "the Power of Stihl" for what can happen to other parts of your face
