I have a new house with a septic system. The county made me put the system directly behind my house because of soil tests. I have three 100 foot fields that do not have pipes but baffles that sit ontop of rock and soil. The baffles were then buried. I have a tank of course with a pipe that runs to the baffles. My question is, how close can I plant trees to the fields, tank and pipe? I know to keep roots from the pipe but what about the fields? I cannot find any info on what affect the roots will have on the baffles. I dont think it would be a problem because most of what I read says that roots can clog the pipes, but I dont have pipes in my field, I have baffles. Hopefully someone can help me out with this. Also, what trees would be best?

I planted oaks and river birch on the four corners of my drain field and 14 years later no problem.
we just had the tank pumped last week and the guy said the field seem to be draining fine.

How many feet away? Are your fields pipes or baffles? Thanks
