Hi, didn't know but, I recently I bought to used full size Exmark lazer z's 60 inch, one with a kohler 22 and 25 horse at a really great price. Both have oil leaking between the block and the outer plate. It's the piece that bolts to the block using 10 bolts. I don't know what you call that piece. I'm in the process of fixing it myself, I'm very mechanically inclined and can do really anything I put my mind to so it's no problem. Just curious if anyone has had this problem before, oh, both have 2000+ hours also. They run great, don't smoke nor knock. I thought this may be a manufacturer defect that these gasket go out after time. Let me knoe what you got, its really a easy fix, and you don't need an impact either, you gota use your muscles men!

There is no gasket, just black rtv silcone. That is all i've ever used and have never had issues with leaks on the closure plate. Just pull the plate off and clean the block and the plate very well with brake clean and a small wire brush. Don't use high speed pads or anything that you will actually remove aluminum with. You will need to check the o-ring around the oil port. Maybe the oring has collapsed enough to allow oil by it.

I got it done, didn't take long at all. Just cleaned it up with rags around the edges. Where it was leaking was right next to the starter. I noticed that there was no gasket at all, not even silicone on one of the engines. I just didn't know if this kind of thing was a common problem, and the orings on both were fine. Thanks
